Heart Problems After Birth Of Child

I am 33 years old.
In early 20's I had occasional palpatations. They would occur mainly during cold weather, but also sometimes just out of the blue. They felt like my heart was stopping and starting at least 4 or 5 times in a row with hard irregular pounds, then it would become fast yet regular for a moment and then slow to a normal heart rate. And just like that... over.
I went on a 24 hour holter monitor a few times back then, they told me they couldnt see anything. This would happen only once in 5-6 months.
Now, at the age of 33 I had my 4th child. A week or two after, I started to experience these episodes on a extreme and frequent basis. 40-50 times a day this would happen to me. They would last minutes at a time, happening everytime I bend over, lay down, or just whenever. I thought I was going to die.
I went to the E.R where I had an E.K.G done (normal) I had an exray for blod clots (normal) I had blood work done to see if I was having a heart attack (normal) and was hooked up to a heart monitor (showed I was having palpitations)
Then had a Echo cardiogram ( I watched my heart valve flip flop irregularly and had to plug my ears to prevent from hearing that scary sound )
I was told it was normal, but couldnt speak to anyone about my results because only people with insurance receive complete and proper care.
I was put on a 24 hr. holter monitor and was told it too was normal except for severe P.V.C's
I was never counseled on why or what to do or how to prevent this.

After about 2-3 months, the severity decreased significantly but new symptoms began.
I feel like someone is sitting on my chest or squeezing my heart as I am very aware of its beating. It still feels irregular but doesnt feel like it is flip flopping as it was. The feeling is strange and very hard to explain.
Also, it makes me short of breath or feel like I am not taking in enough Oxygen.
I feel this way on a daily basis.
It has now been 7 1-2 months since the start of all of this.
I am severely depressed and cannot focus an anything but the way I feel.
I wish this would go away so I can feel normal again.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S thyroid was  low and did take levothyroxine but symptoms did not improve.

My mom had mitral valve prolapse from the time she was a teenager (after scarlet and rheumatic fever). All the time I was growing up, she'd have spells where she'd lie on the bed with palpitations and irregular heartbeats. She used to say she'd never live to be sixty ( but she lived a long life).  The doctor would sometimes come to our house, but the situation didn't improve. Finally  when she was in her late seventies, she did take digoxin to help control her heartbeat, and she lived to the age of ninety!

I  just started having premature ventricular beats (about 8500 a day), at age 67, but I don't worry about them because my heart is pretty much okay, other than mild mitral valve prolapse (which began after I, too, had scarlet fever).  Put  yourself in the hands of a good doctor and let  him/her guide you. Chances are, like many of us here, you'll find that even though the palps are uncomfortable and a little scary, you'll be fine.

To say that only people with insurance get complete and proper care isn't a fair statement at all. You have had the COMPLETE work-up for heart disease and as far as getting the results, speak to the doctor who ordered the tests. Legally it is your right to have copies of any and all test results as well as any medical records. What you are describing sounds like anxiety. I don't know what you are saying when you describe your PVCs as severe, a PVC is just a premature beat and it only becomes an issue when there is serious underlying heart disease such as a cardiomyopathy. The more you worry about this, the worse it will become so you are better off to try and forget about it. Stay away from caffine found in coffees, teas, sodas (especially Mountain Dew) and chocolates. Good luck

Have you seen a cardiologist?  I would start there and get a complete workup, I have had palpiatations for years.  Are you getting enough sleep.  My palpitations started after my 2nd child, the kids never slept and I was drained.  I have anxiety about the palpitations after years and some of your symptoms remind me of me.  I have a big aware of my heart, It could do anything and I feel it.  I get myself so worked up on occasion that I feel short of breath, pain down my arms, heart racing.   I just have to stop and realize that its my anxiety getting to me a calm down.  Good Luck!
