Heart Rhythm

Hello, My name is Rich, I am 15 years old. I have been experiencing irregular heart beats when i am nervous or anxious, such as when i have an upcoming football game or such. I went to see a doctor and he said that it was completely regular and it has to do with age. I think otherwise cause it just gets really bad sometimes were as I have to stop what I'm doing and just rest for a couple of minutes. Competition with friends also gets me very very anxious, and it starts happening. My doctor stated that it has something to do with adrenalin being released, can I get a confirmation on this? Is this dangerous?

Hello...

SInce you have the healthy heart of a 15yr old, simple lifestyle changes can help alter and/or prevent the occurrences of PAC's. Exercising, eating right, and lowering stress levels are the most effective ways of reducing these.

Good luck:)

Thank you, this explains what is happening. Is there any way to prevent PAC's?

Hello...

I'm sorry that this is worrying you. I'm not sure what your Dr meant by your age being a contributing factor to your symptoms.

It is true that when you are excited there is a release of adrenaline that occurs. This alone can create an invitation to what are termed PAC's (premature atrial contractions) These alone are not a threat to your life, more of a nucience.

I feel confident to concur with your Dr's statement that you will be just fine. Enjoy being a kid!:)
