Heart beat inderal stress HELP

Hallo,
I'm 29 years old and I have mitral valve collapse and Hashimoto thyroid problem.
Since 2006 I had some rare exra heart beats. But the heart beats became many more this May a lilltle before I find out that I was pregnant and I started indreral 1/4 every night. I lost the baby a month ago. During this period I was talking indreral and I was almost fine. The doctor told me to stop inderal after a month and I stopped it last Thursday and yesterday and today morning I had them again so often. I went to my doctor and he told me that I can take inderal for 50 years and there won't be any problem.
My problem is that I feel like 70 years old with serious hearts problems. I can t go on a trip because I think of what will happen If the heart beats come again and I can not really enjoy any moment of my life because of this.
My mind is stack on the extra heart beats. I thing that no one on his 29 yers has a similar problem like me. I see my friends and I m sad because I can't be like them. Today my doctor assured me that the problem is from the mitral valve and the tryroid and that I can go anywhere but my mind is there.

Hello.

You are wrong.

There are MANY 29 years old having your symptoms. I'm one of them. What you write about your friends is of course correct, from your point of view, but I'm really sure your friends have premature / extra heart beats too. We all have them. The difference is how much you notice them. This depends on many factors, most of them are mental.

An example:
Me and a friend was out for a couple of beers approx. a week ago. For some reason, we started to discuss heart rate and palpitations. It's a known "problem" that our heart rate increases as we drink alcohol (it happens in everyone) but I've always believed my heart rate was higher than other people, due to some anxiety. After some beers, my heart rate was 85 and his heart rate was 115. I noticed it, he didn't.

Some beers later, my heart rate was 98 and his was 135 irregular. He didn't notice it, and he didn't care. As long as he was alive, it couldn't be too serious.

Another example:
I monitored my girlfriend's heart rate a minute or two before sleep. She had at least 5 extra or premature beats. She didn't notice them, because she didn't care.

As you can see, those beats are very common but most people don't notice them, and they don't care. If you focus on your heart rate, it's easy to feel your heart beats. I think the solution is to do other things that occupy your mind, so you don't pay too much attention to your heart rate. Trust your doctor and do things in your life you like.

Good luck.

By the way, it's important to know those extra beats can't harm you. They are just heartbeats occuring a bit earlier than they are supposed to. They are not "extra" beats, just early beats.

They don't cause any damage to the heart, they don't reduce the heart's pumping abilities, and they can't cause any worse conditions in a healthy heart (like yours).

You can live your life exactly like you would without the premature beats. In fact, you really should. Practice pushing your limits, and see your life quality improve.

Thank you very much for your answers your words have helped me a lot!
I wonder do I consider as a person with a a healthy heart since I have mitral valve collapse? Most of the time I think that I'm a sick person with a serious heart problem (70 years old).

You're very velcome :)

Regarding your mitral valve prolapse (not collapse I think) it should of course be evaluated by your doctor (I believe it is?). There are degrees of this - and if it was serious I believe your doctor would have sent you to surgery. We all have small regurgitations on our valves, we have to, because they are passive valves and some blood must flow back in order for them to close.

Personally I believe (without being able to say this for sure, though) your thyroid levels are more of a trigger for premature beats and you should keep in contact with your doctor to make sure the levels are correct.

Inderal prevents this effect on your heart, and if you get better with Inderal, adrenaline / thyroid is probably the main trigger in your case.

Send me a message or ask if you have further questions. I'm happy I was able to help you:)

You are right I have a mitral valve prolapse they told me that its normal and common. My thyroid is ok for one year now and although my only two month pregnancy (this short period pregnancy made my palpitations exceed the limit and drove me again to cardiologists). Its true that I'm very afraid so much of a next pregnancy but I also want so much a baby. I 'm afraid very much of my palpitations during this period but I hope that with the help of God everything will go fine.
