Heart flutters

by solidpink, Aug 31, 2009 06:48PM
I get heart flutters, have for a few years now.  Sometimes it's a few times a day, sometimes it's a few times a minute.  And every now and then I lose my breath for a second or two because it feels like my heart skipped a beat.

I read a Jennie Garth article and she stated she gets heart flutters, and she was told her artery(ies) seep blood, but was also told most people have that and never even know.

Well, as of today it now scares me because of Yahoo!'s aspirin article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090831/lf_afp/healthresearchheartbritain)...T
his scares me because for 8+ years I was addicted to aspirin (and NOT the low mg ones), taking 15 a day... 3 in the morning - 3 at lunch - 3 after school - 3 at dinner - 3 before bed.  This stemmed from having reconstructive plastic surgery and being told to take aspirin if I am ever in pain... and as a child, I did... then when the effects of aspirin reversed (had to take it to PREVENT pain and headaches, rathe than resolve the pain)... is when the abuse began.

I just wonder if the aspirin has caused irreversible damage?  I mean... it adds up to 44,000+ in an 8-year span.
I'm honestly afraid to go find out.

That's a lot of aspirin.  I don't know what the maximum is, something like two 325 mg every four hours, or something like that...and this assumes for no longer than a few days.  Anyway, while I have not specific knowledge, I doubt the high intake of aspirin could cause heart flutters.  To tell any doctor you talk with about your condition, but try not to worry about it, worry can cause flutters.

From your post I get the picture that you are spending a lot of time and energy worrying, your best first step is try to calm down and find some way to get your mind off of what your heart is doing.
