Heart pain

by alexithymia07, Oct 09, 2007 12:15PM
Hi, I'm an 18 year old female. I don't drink/smoke. For awhile now, I've been having some pain in my heart. It's not really chest pain, but I can actually feel sharp pains in my heart that come and go with each beat. It usually happens once a day, and always when I'm just sitting or lying down. Sometimes I'm aware of my heart beating and can feel it flutter sometimes. It usually lasts no longer than 30 seconds to a minute each time. The pain is really sharp though. I'm a bit worried, and was wondering what it could be and should I get it checked out?
Thanks.

Any chest pain or fluttering sensation is worth being check out.  it usually starts by talking to your internist or family doctor.  If the do a EKG and holter monitor and find PVC/PACs that correlate with your symptoms, the rest of work up is based on symptoms.  This is almost always a benign finding but still worth evaluating.

Thanks for posting.
