Heart palpitations

I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up. I still get them but not as strong as when I was taking the supplement and I've also had a shortness of breathe issue for a long time. I get shortness when just climbing a flight of stairs. Was told the hernia was causing it but there's no difference since the operation. Could the shortness of breathe and palpitations be related?

I've had shortness of breathe years before the palpitations started. I'm thinking it (palpitations) has something to do with the hernia operation 10 months ago. Also thinking my body isn't getting the oxygen it needs.
The doctor didn't think the B12 supplement caused palpitations to get worse but as soon as I stopped taking them they eased up.
Has anyone had this issue?

I've never gotten shortness of breath with the type of palpitations I get,  but there are different varieties that I've heard could give people shortness of breath.
