Getting too technical for me, but the fact you used to run for exercise and now do not (correct?), it then may be you are not in good physical condition - thus a little physical demand makes your hear "race"... still the numbers you give an not in general dangerous. I say "in general" because there could be an underlying condition that is.
I would go to a primary care (family care) first to get a general appraisal of healh Then if the PC thinks being examined by a cardiologist is in order, that the "cardio" you need to see.
Hi KTrunning:
What kind of Doctor a Cardio. or an Internist? Do you get lightheadedness with hypotension and can that cause a balance problem. I am going to look up orthostatic hypotension. Thanks.
Ask your doc about orthostatic hypotension. I have a problem where my BP won't come up enough when I'm active so my HR increases to compensate. I'm a runner, so it's completely affected what paces are easy/hard since my HR runs higher now.
Hi Jerry:
would you happen to know why my heart rate would go from 45 to 100 when I roll over in bed. Also when I climb stairs the heart rate will go from 45 to 100-110. I been a runner for 40 years that's why I have a slow heart rate but I think its strange for the heart rate to sky rocket when I climb stairs, do lunges and roll over in bed. I do have lightheadedness with a balance problem for the last year. I don't know if that's got anything to do with my heart rate. Thanks for your time.
I'm a guy, but will say you heart rate experience sound good to me.
A resting HR of 45 is unusual, very low, but if you do not have headache or shortness of breath, of dizziness (these come to mind) then it seems you cardiovascular is able to provide the needed oxygen at that low HR.
Anything below 60 is considered to be a sign of a stronger than average cardioviscular system. Enjoy.
