The vagus nerve supplies both the abdomen and the SA node in the heart. I have read somewhere of vagally induced arrhythmias. But it is very rare and only when the vagus nerve is damaged.
I have had afib for over a year now & have a similar problem. (I know mine is not gall bladder because had it out a few years ago.) Every time I have Afib, I also have belching and a gnawing stomach pain, I can only discribe it as feeling like I haven't eaten for months! It actually is much worse than the afib itself. My family dr.,gastro dr. and cardiologist all say they've never heard of such a thing and there would not be any connection. (I had a scan of stomach, endoscopy, and colonoscopy-all normal) I have now gone to an EP who said, yes there could be a connection because heart and stomach share some nerves. Sometimes the Afib seems to happen first, other times the stomach pain and belching but they DO always seem to come together. The reason I started looking for support groups and forums was to see if anyone else has this stomach/afib connection.
I have had the same problem for 15 years!
I get very sick feeling after eating certain foods and tend to feel bloated
I have also underwent an upper Gi and had my gall bladder tested for problems!
I also found out that my upset stomach and indigestion all tied into the same problem!
Some people's stomach's can handle the pressure , but some can't ,Like me!!!!
I got sick and tired of going to the doctor's and finding nothing, the pain in my stomach.
I went on the warpath for a sloution of my own...and I found 1 and it works like a charm!!!!!
I buy either soft drink's or flavored water thats carbonated(you can find at WALMART)
I do admit I am a girl and burp alot(because of this issue)but u will find this works!
After you burp it all goes away and if this works for u I guess we have the same issues!!
I have never had burping, etc cause my a-fib but I get burps right after a-fib hits...it might just be me doing it because of the similarities of trapped gas and a-fib feelings in my chest but my specialist said that they can be connected. The Vagus Nerve can be irritated and cause A-fib. The vagus nerve controls digestion and heart beat. So A-fib or arrythmias can come about because of gas and stomach problems when the vagus nerve is stimulated. Look it up and you will see alot on it.
I have not direct experience, but I have read a lot of posts on this Community, and you are the first one to raise the connection of gall bladder surgery and AFib. I do suffer from AFib, which adds to my recall on post read about AFib. My conclusion is that the connection is slight at best/worst.
I know my wife had gal bladder surgery because of severe back, side, and chest pains, muscular/nerve.. whatever. The surgery did not cure the problem, nor cause any heart rhythm problems for her.
Well I mentioned my heart problem because you seemed a little worried that your heart and gall bladder could be related. They might, I don't know, but mine are two different problems.
I had gall bladder attacks for a long time , in fact years , but they got worse. The attacks are terrible with pain in the right side and the right side of the stomach in fact they are disabling and last from a short time to hours.Pain killers etc nothing helps, so keyhole surgery soon fixed the problem. Now no attacks and I can eat anything I want to.
This is just my experience, and no doubt each one of us is different, but I hope you soon get your problem sorted out.
So how did your GB problems effect your heart rythm? At all or none?
How do you feel after the GB removal? What GB syptoms did you have?
thanks
Well I have Afib and just had my gall bladder removed. You can get a few different illnesses at once, but you could go back to your doctor and explain how you feel and request tests.
What is it you are about to give up? Is it the treatment or life? Well, dont give up on either, life is worth living and millions of people keep positive no matter what their illness.
Let us know how you are getting along.
