Hiatal hernia, vagus nerve and Ventricular tachycardia

Have had GERD for about the same amount of time as VT. Today with an endoscopy a hiatus hernia was discovered. Later in the day in reading about hiatus hernias I found some info indicating a possible link (in some cases) between the vagus nerve, heart palpitations and the hernia itself. Co-incidentially I have noticed that often the VT runs - 5-10 beats-  occur when I am sitting at my computer, leaning forward.

While the endocrinologist recommended medication for the acid reflux, he did say the the hernia was fairly large and down the road I might need to have it repaired.

So, my question is, is it possible that a repair might take the pressure off the vagus nerve and in turn lessen the vt?

Thank you for your answer,

eapoee

I have GERD, that I take Prevacid for.  I also have a small hiatal hernia, and I have PAC's.  My gastro, cardio, and pcp all have said that in my case there seems to be direct link to the stomach issues and heart arrythmia.  I am interested to know as well, if a repair would take some pressure off the vagus nerve.  Many of my palps happen when I sit a certain way. Keep us posted on what you find out.  Best to you!

Do you have increased cardiac symptoms with abdominal gas or after meals?

Does you blood pressure drop from any activities (standing up after sitting or lying down) Exercise, or climbing stairs?

Slow yet incredibly strong heart contractions?
