How do YOU deal with PACs/PVCs

I have been diagnosed with them...had them on and off for years. They primarily come the 7-10 days prior to my period and then taper off once it starts. I have been told over and over that it is benign...they won't kill me...all my tests were fine except these and occasional short bursts of SVT. I take 12.5mg of metoprolol twice a day. Magnesium has helped A LOT. But I still have my moments of fear and "why me's".

I had a full 6 weeks of barely any skips at all. Even in the usual time. It was WONDERFUL. When they came back this week, it has been very depressing...very disappointing. And while I have and am learning more and more to go on with my life and not let it consume me...I still have bad moments (like today).

I had a slew of blood work done last week - 19 viles!!! He is checking for everything and doing a full thyroid panel (my TSH is borderline low...so I MAY be hyper). He also believes my progesterone is too low, at least durign that time of the month...causing the skips. I will get all results and meet with him on Thursday.

I would love to hear from others and learn about how other people deal with these...coping mechanisms, etc.

Thanks!!

Believe me...in the decade or so that I have had these...I have had 3 different therapists and tried several different technigues. Other than this issue, my other anxieties are under control.

I think I have mentioned this to you before, but it is perfectly possible to treat the anxiety we feel with odd beats.  All that is necessary is to make an appointment with a counselor or psychiatrist.

Personally, I favor a shrink, because shrinks have medical education and thus know more about heart problems.

I really am. Everything I read seems to lead me to believe there is just no known reason...no answers really. Why don't they do more studies?? Anyway, I sure hope I have another remission soon. My period is due in 2 days and I am just prayin' its on time so they flippin' stop!!

I dont really get in full blown panic mode any more. More like depression/anger. I just want to have fun and enjoy the time I DO have on this planet. But I find it very difficult when I am skipping.

I am so sorry about your hearing issues...that is so odd!!!

I am really wanting to get to this appt on Thursday. But in a way, dreading it too because he is either going to tell me to take something major like hormones or thyroid meds (which will scare the crap out of me) or tell me there isn't anything I can do (which will suck).

I need to just keep reminding myself how much worse it could be and be grateful. Why is that so hard to do sometimes??

(TRY A NAP)???  It worked for me today!  :)

I STILL have pac's.  Even after my ablation which was on 3-16.
I had ablation for tachycardia but then diagnosis downgraded to atrial arrythmia? Still not quite sure about all that but had cyro type ablation and I still have pacs. After being on different heart medicines and the stress of all that I seem to be also left with bothersome tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Went to audiologist and I have nerve damage in L ear and slight hearing loss???  Never had that before all this...??
That has lasted 7 months.
I am off all prescription drugs now.  I am on an anti-inflamitory diet and eat NO sugar not even much fruit except handful of blueberries everyday. No white flour, or dairy.  Take vitamins and herbs (billberry, hawthorne) and it seems like I still get pacs at least 2-3 x a day for about half hour spell at a time. Today they were so odd that I got a little lightheaded and tired?? Discouraging.  Came home after church and eat nutritious lunch; salad with chicken, yellow pepper and home made dressing and STILL had pacs.  So I decided to lay down and take nap.  Got up after little nap and they seem to have subsided.  Think just general stress and negative thoughts can cause them??
Sometimes, I think its better to take a little rest (nap) and try again.

Having 6 weeks with no pacs would be like a dream.  I'll bet you are scratching your head wondering what you did right!??

Take care,

KIm
