How do you wean off of Propranolol

by lucyluu, Sep 26, 2008 12:22AM
I was put on this med a few weeks ago because of a PVC attack.  They said that they wanted to keep my hr down but it was only high the day I had the attack.  The Cardiologist and I have an agreement that I will try to go off in a few months but I am getting scared.  When this med wears off I can feel it, feel horrible, more anxious, pressure in my chest and more palps.  Is my heart becoming dependent on this med?  What are the symptoms of going off of meds like this?  I hate taking pills!!!

I took propanolol on and off for about 12 years.  I don't think your heart has become dependent on it, but it seems like it is working while it is in your system.  Talk with your doctor about changing the dose, or maybe he/she will let you take it "as needed."  That works for lots of people, including me.

Feel better
