How long can you take Tambocor effectively

Two years ago I started on 50mg of Tambocor for arrhythmia, but because I had about 3 more epidsodes over a year I was put up to 300mg per day. Have been absolutely fine for the the last 9 months - not one episode. I'm reasonably active. Walk a lot of golf courses.My heart is otherwise in good working order

I'm 63.

Question: If its working well now can I expect Tambocor to be effective for many years, given nothing else going wrong>

Good question.  I take flecinide (generic) and I would also like to know if anyone has an opinion on this.

I think the effectiveness of beta blockers depends on the individual and arrhythmia.  A friend of mine has been on them for years for atrial fibrillation and continues to do well.  I was put on Metoprolol for SVT and while it controlled those symptoms, it lowered my pulse so much that I felt like a zombie.  Switched to calcium channel blocker which only worked for about 3 months.  PVC's are also a little harder to control with meds although some people do well with them.
