How long does it take for metoprolol to help with PACs?

I have had pacs in the thousands per day since this past May. I had echoes, ekgs, holter monitors and a 30 day event monitor which caught also Nonsustained v tach and svt (I was told inappropriate svt). I was prescribed metoprolol ER 25 mg and I took the first dose this am about 3 hours ago. So far my pacs are worse- meaning I fee them even more and they are more uncomfortable. The intention was for the medication to help with the uncomfortable feeling of getting pacs.
My questions are...
Is the medication supposed to start working right away? Is it normal for it to get worse before getting better? Should I continue to take the meds?

I am 12 hours after my first dose and still nothing, but worse pacs. I will give it a few days before making a decision. Can I stop taking the medication under supervision of my doc or is it something people stay on. I heard something about needing to stay on the metoprolol and not being able to just stop it.

25 mg is a really low dose, also, the ER version peaks after about 20 hours. It has little immediate effect. Give it a few days before you make a conclusion.

Maybe you have to wait a little, maybe you need a higher dose and maybe it doesn't work at all.
