How many of you have had successful ablations on the first attempt?

How many of you have had successful ablations on the first attempt?

How many of you on MedHelp have had ablations that have been successful on the first attempt?   I know of several people, but I know we couldn't be the only ones -- there must be more of you out there.  Please respond.  Thanks!

Add me to the list...my five year anniversary after the ablation will be October 5th!!!! Got my life back......wouldn't change a thing..........and now realize after going thru a terrible head on collison two months ago how simple the ablation really was.....i used to say that it was easier then a root canal..i totally stand by that one...mine was for a bunch of stuff...atrial fib, SVT, ventricular arrthymias, and the list goes on and on and on....crazy to me since it popped up sort of out of no where all at once......must have been the water? LOL so first time was the charm but i always stand by my stock answer that it all depends on the the ablator or the person who is doing it ...and their experience and skills.............

This will be interesting to watch. Still too soon for me to say. I was laying in bed last night and felt that quiet feeling in the troat before one comes and braced myself. It was almost unnerving that nothing happened. I know that sounds strange, but my mind's been trained for the svt. I'm looking forward to having my body get used to this new wiring. :)

had an ablatin july 19, 2010 and have had -0- afib problems since.. had a few pvcs at first, but no pvcs now.. back like I was 40 years ago!!! I was having afib 2-4 times a year for 10-12 years and had to have an electro cardioversion each time to get back in to regular rhythm.... only thing I miss about not having afib  is that dang Michael Jackson anesthesia they gave me before each shock .... man i rested for 2-3 days.. can see why he took a likeing to it... On year anniversary today - SVT free.  I was given a 95% success rate for my condition, AVNRT, so far so good!

These are the posts I like to read about ablation successes.Im due to go to boston for a cryoablation possibly.I have been so nervous already thinking about it . I have atrial tach or (svt) and afib which Ive only had 2 bad episodes of that.Thank God. Ive read more bad than good about ablations, and how people have to have it repeated over and over. Or where it has caused other arrythmias. Has anybody had to have an ablation near the av node on the left side of the heart? Thats where my spot is and it makes me nervous.Im just scared about them screwing up and ending up with a pacemaker  :(

Mine was near the AV node on the right side of the heart.  I experienced no problems and no pain after the procedure and am doing fine.  It's been a little over two months now.  The EP couldn't ablate as much as he wanted to and stopped when he got close to the node.  11 burns.  He was able to ablate enough that it disabled the bad pathway.....95 % cure rate for AVNRT type SVT - he says I will be considered cured after a year with no episodes.  I haven't had any "false starts" since the 2nd week post ablation.  Good luck with your cryoablation!

I had to be ablated on the left side. Everything worked out fine. I have been in NSR for 3 years now.

My ablation for AVNRT came close to the AV node, so the EP specialist was very careful not to burn too much ... he obviously did a wonderful job as I have just hit the one year anniversary with no more episodes.  I am just so happy to be free of this debilitating condition that had virtually ruined my life for nearly 30 years - go for it girl - stop worrying and "just do it" ...  I believe that cryo ablation is probably a better choice for someone with your issues - a little bit more forgiving than RF.

My ablation was for AVNRT also. My ep drew a diagram of the AV node and how it misfunctions leading to the SVT. He then showed me how it was corrected by burning the slow pathway.Check out this link. http://medtees.com/avnodalreentry.html
