Is an EKG and Echo Enough?

by adtia0319, Mar 02, 2009 07:49PM
I am 34 year female who is experiencing PVCs on a very regular basis.  At least 20 a day.  It sarted over 2 years ago and has progressively gotten worse.  Recently, I visited my doctor and he did an EKG and Echo and they revealed left ventricular hypertrosphy.  My blood pressure was elevated 160/100 and strong heart palpatations would not decrease was my concnern for the visit.  Prior to this visit I never had high blood pressure.  The doctor put me on rest for three days monitored my heart and gave me a prescription for bllod pressure medication.  The medication lowered my blood pressure but I am still having the PVCs, tightness, and exhaustion.

Is this enough or should I be of great concern?

Help!

hey sorry for your discomfort, maybe request a 24 holter test. Do you drink coffee, alcohol? Sometimes what you eat(chocolate, caffeine etc..) or drink can really trigger heart discomfort. I found out i had an allergies to bananas and eggs and a few other things. i cut these out and it has helped alot! Good luck and dont forget to pray,  miracles do happen!

Are you going to have a follow-up with the cardiologist? I would definitely want to ask more questions...such as how serious is the hypertrophy? 20 PVCs a day is nothing to worry about, but are they singles or do they come in consecutive multiples (which is more worrisome). A 24-hour holter is a pretty typical test given in these situations, as angryangler pointed out.
