Lone atrial fib

Lone atrial fib

I have been diagnosed with occasional a-fib, how do I know if it qualifies as lone a-fib?

I assume you have a medical diagnosis of "occasional AFib".  If that is the case, what is the concern about "lone"?  I haven't looked up "loan" to see what it means in full detail, but I associate that label with occasional periods of AFib that return to NSR without any treatment.

Given your age you may be able to get by with a simple aspirin regiment to help reduce the low increase of stroke risk that comes from any episodes of AFib.  On the other hand, if the episodes of AFib cause you a serious problem, you may find some prescribed or other medical treatment that will bring relief.

If you are going on self-diagnosis, I'd suggest you talk with your doctor.

Atrial fibrillation not caused by an underlying heart disease is referred to as "primary" or "lone" a-fib. So, in other words, if you have not other heart problems or hypertension, but have been diagnoised with a-fib, it is probably "lone" a-fib. My EP has told me this is very common in younger people who suffer from a-fib.
