Low Heart Rate

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone has been doing good. I took a break from the forum and was enjoing
life after my ablation.  I have noticed lately my heart rate is in the 50's.  I run around my house come back and take it and it will be 75 then drops dow to the 58-62 range within a minute.    I am getting myself all work up about it and still my heart rate is low.    I am only taking 12.5mg of Atenolol so  I dont think thats the problem.  I made an appt with cardiologist for Monday but was hoping for some information from you guys.   Anxiety is getting the best of me.  Last night after going to bed, my pulse was 52 and that was with worrying about it.    I feel fine with the exception of the panic attacks.  Any ideas?   of course I read online about heart block and that made me freak even more.    Just when you think your free and clear something pops up.

Hey hey hey welcome back Debbier!!!!  Seems like everyone takes a break after they are cured huh?  Thats because everyone gets their life back i think.  Okay my huble opinion D is that when you go back to the heart doc talk to him/her because it may simply just be time that you get weaned off of the antenolol altogether and yep even that low dose is gonna drop your heart rate.  Remember i am on the same but .25 and my pulse has its low moments too.  Remember you are techically not in bradycardia at that rate and once we are in bed its super normal for our hearts to relax after a long day of life and the pulse to drop so i wouldn't worry about that one...i guess you forgot how bad it was before your treatment huh?  Heart block? Nawwww now that i think is a wild stretch..just sounds to me like you have a healthy heart since no more rhythm or rate issues....i certainly wouldn't be worried about a lower pulse rate as long as it didn't move into bradycardia....our hearts love us alot more when they don't have to work as hard i think....maybe your heart is telling you "I Don Need No Stinkin" Beta Blockers" LOL talk to the doc...relax...don't look for trouble where there is none my friend....and remember Debbier...pay it forward you promised!!!

Thanks Cindy!!!!!  I seen the cardio today,  he told me a heatrt rate in the 50's on a beta blocker is ideal.  He has me on a 24 hr monitor to verify my heart rate while sleeping.   So hopefully that comes back fine and I can move past this little set back.   I dont want to give up my Atenolol its my safety net!!!!!  I am thinking of trying to moive it to a 1/4 of a dose and see how it goes after I get the results of my holter.  Thanks for your wisdom as always!!!!!

wb, sorry you have to be here...it's always great to get back to our "normal" lives isn't it?  It's good your doctor is keeping a watch with the monitor =)

Every bb I've tried except Inderal lowers my hr and bp too much.  If atenolol doesn't work def ask about another bb since they seem to work for you.

congratulations on your successful ablation!
