Low heart rate AFTER pregnancy

Low heart rate AFTER pregnancy

Hi there, I'm 38 years old with a history of a IST.  My normal resting heart rate is around 100 or so.  During pregnancy, it is higher then that, around 120.

Now, AFTER pregnancy, (my daughter is 5 weeks old), my resting heart rate has dropped to 48-55 (while lying down).

When not rpegnant, my heart rate lying down is around 85 or so.

I am not athletic at all.  I'm wondering why my heart rate has dropped so low like this.  I have made an appointment with my cardiologist but it's not until the end of the month.  I was wondering if anyone had any answers?

My family doctor said he had no idea why this was happening but said he was not worried.  I'm not so sure.

Just looking for some explanation.

I was on metoprolol my whole pregnancy, but have not been on it since my c-section.

I had the same thing happen, only not quite so dramatically. I had 2 ablations for IST in 2003, so my resting heartrate is quite low  (in the 50's). During my recent pregnancy my heartrate went up to 60-75, and 4 days after delivery it was 42. Now 14 weeks after having my baby it is still lower than normal, in the upper 40's. I'm not sure why. If you get any answers, I'd love to know why, too. Congratulations on the new baby!

I had the same thing after my c-section, my heart rate would be in the 40's,   my dr told me could be due to the drugs in the spinal,  I am sure everything will be okay
