Marathon training and heart

Is it bad for your heart to train and run a marathon?

Usually not.  I am a big believer in moderation though and running a marathon is not really moderation.  If you are worried that it might be too much for you, you should talk to a doctor and see what they think. Depending on your age and risk factors, they may want to do a stress test or other evaluation before giving you the go ahead.  This is less of an issue if you are 25 years old and healthy and probably more important if you are 45 year old hypertensive diabetic.

Good luck with your training.
