Medicine reaction

I was taking Erythromycin for acne for 6 months.  I kept thinking the sever bouts of stomach flu was from exposure to sick people while going to school and working at the hospital.  I started having heart racing when I looked on line at the adverse reactions to this medication and realized I didn't have the flu at all but it was from this medication!  I called my Dr. who said to stop taking the medication.  I asked about the heart racing and he said don't worry about it unless my pulse is over 100 bpm.  I started monitoring my pulse and blood pressure since.  My normal bp is 120/70, now my bp will soar to 150/90 and drop and climb erratically my pulse also fluctuates up to 99 bpm, and I get shaky and still have stomach problems.  Should I be concerned? How long will these effects last?  It has been 2 weeks off of this med. now.

I am not familiar with Erythromycin, and as you've looked up the side effects and talked with your doctor I guess there isn't much I can offer on that point.

You mention changing HR, is that while maintaining the same physical level of activity?  Best to get a handle on the HR when at full rest.  Then anything from 60 to 75+ would be considered normal to most of us.  Anything below 100 is considered acceptable, but I'd not be happy about a resting HR of 100 and would seek some medical help to get it down to at most 80...said unless you have a long history of a HR over that number and your doctor know it.

BP changing is normal and if it is mostly in the 120/70 I'd consider it very good.  Your BP should also be taken when at a full rest, or at least not when engaged in stressful activities physically or mentally.

If you have no other symptoms I'd wait another week or two, the talk again with your doctor if you condition doesn't improve.
