Mitrol Valve Prolapse- Im scared...

ok, so i think i may have lyme disease, and i am being tested for it. just recemtly my newest symptom is heart issues. Ive had some chest pain, and palpitations, and it feels like i have to catch my breath alot. Well, it didnt help that when i saw the neurologist he said "i think i heard a click" and then ordered a 2d echocardiogram, and i haven't heard anything yet. It's very scary because i have heart pain and my heart beats pretty slow, and im afraid of being home alone and having a heart attack or something.... any advice, or support.... BTW- 18 yr old married mother of 1. But heart disease and attacks runs in my family...,,

Your subject says Mitral Valve Prolapse, but nothing in the body of your post that addresses that subject, or I overlooked it.

You also mention a second (assume 2d means that) echocardiogram, did the first one say Mitral Valve Prolapse?

I believe Mitral Valve Prolapse is usually not life threatening and many live with that condition over many years of a long life.  I recommend not spending a lot of emotions on that worry.

From what I read you are getting medical attention, just be calm and work with your doctor(s).  Try to remember all symptoms, write them down, so that you can share all of that information with your doctor.

Hi, thanks for the support. Yeah, sorry i don't think i was totally clear, the doctor wanted me to have an echocardiogram on the assumption that i have a mitrol valve prolapse. I was just worried because i haven't gotten the results yet, and i have recurrent chest pain, and it's just a little unsettling.

a mid to late systolic click is the hallmark of Mitral Valve Prolapse though.

Of course, an Echo would back it up as well :)

I have Mitral Valve Prolapse, Mitral valve regurgitation, Pulmonary regurgitation, and Aortic regugitation, and I get alot of chest pain, as well as arrhythmia.

The two are most likely not related, and are separate issues, but I do have an enlarged left atrium because of MVP. However, that is probably due to the regurgitation.

Not everyone with MVP has regurgitation, and not everyone with regurgitation has MVP. It all depends on your Echo results.
