Monitor Side Effects

Has anyone else experienced Monitor Side Effects?  The following day after wearing the Monitor I experienced dizzy spells and light headedness.  This was not suggestiveness as I never expected this reaction nor had anyone mentioned such a thing.  And this surprise had nothing at all to do with why I was monitoring my heart.  It persisted for two weeks while I was monitoring in the given manner.  I took the Monitor off after that time and the dizzyness gradually went away.

It is not all in your head. I have a different style monitor and I feel buzzing sensation in feet that cycles on and off with the monitor's process.  It increased to include lower legs.  I took it off and side effect stopped.  Next step, talk to doctor.

I try to avoid jumping to conclusions, but admit that wearing a monitor creates a negative outlook that could lead to anxiety.  Allthesame, the only thing I have heard stated here is that you experienced symptoms while wearing a heart monitor. This can be said of people who are wearing a monitor in an attempt at diagnosing a variety of real issues, as well as of a person who is experiencing anxiety while wearing the monitor.

I wore a monitor after a syncope issue, and received a heart monitor because my heart rhythm disturbance was suspect. Indeed, the monitor showed that my abnormal heart ryhtmn was acting up, and surprise surprise, I continued to experience symptoms. When I removed the monitor, I felt better, but continued to experience symptoms.  Some time later (several weeks), the symptoms went away.

Point being,  we may want to know of course what was stored on the monitor after this. Did the monitor indicate a heart rhythm issue? What were you experiencing before you got the monitor? Are you at risk for CAD or stroke? Have you had a recent physical, and was it normal or were there issues? I am not suggesting that this is your situation, just pointing out that there are other potential causes that should be checked before just saying "its anxiety" so we're done.  Your doc should be able to help you sort this one out; suggest you make an appointment.....

I'll be honest, I hate wearing the event monitor (30 days) and actually feel alot better when I have taking it off because of the hassle it brings and the constant reminder of your heart "condition". I know its said all the time but this could be a point where anxiety takes over because your concious is focused on that monitor and what it represents.

But really im the same way. I dont get dizzy but I feel stressed and agitated when I have it on cause Im always having to worry how I am going to do something while wearing the thing

On a second reading, it sounds like you monitor was a long term recorder.  Again, it really just a passive device that just picking up electrical signals that are always present within us.  Is it possible that you're experiencing something pertaining to the reason that you were wearing it in the first place?

I'm assuming that you're referring to a typical Holter style, 24 hour monitor?  If this is the case, it is doing nothing to you except recording the electrical activity of the heart.  It's not "taking" anything our of you, nor is it putting anything in you.  Unless you're extremely allergic to the adhesive in the electrode pads, I'd suggest to you that perhaps you're experiencing a psychosomatic reaction to wearing it.
