Monocor side effects

I have been taking Monocor medication for 9 years. Sometimes I was given the Generic but I was alway sick when I took it. Even when recovering from bypass surgery in the hospital. Now the drug has stopped being manufactured and the Pharmacist want me to take the Generic. I tried it for a day or two but  I could not tolerate the side effects, so stopped. I have had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment with my Dr. I will see him tomorrow.
Meanwhile I now have an ever increasing heart rate and other symptoms mentioned in your website.
How do I explain all this to my Dr?

Thank you for your reply to my comment regarding Monocor and Generics plus side effects. As of today, I am now taking Lopresor another form of Metoprolol. Hopefully not Generic

Well, so much for the theory that there is no difference between a brand name and a generic medication.

Given what you've told us, I'd ask the doctor is there is anything newer than the now discontinued Monocor, e.g., Toprol (generic Metoprolol) if this is a beta blocker - sounds like it is.
