More than a year and pvc's have much improved

Hello all, first of all I hope you all had a wonderful xmas holiday, and I wish you all a very Happy 2010!! This forum has helped me so much since I have joined it in October 08. For 15 years I have been suffering from pvc's, and knowing that I am not alone with this problem has helped immensely! About a year ago, I have started to take fish oil tablets (see my profile/other posts for more details). And my life has changed! I still have the pvc's, but I don't have them as much, and certainly don't have these "attacks" as I call them, when they are almost constant, over days, and drive you crazy. I still watch what I eat (avoid the acidic foods and coffein and alcohol), as in my case, that's a trigger. I'm awaiting results of a cholesterol test, to see if the fish oil has changed my levels, will let you know. After years of suffering and fear, I seem to have found at least some kind of relief. Here is to another good year in 2010, wishing you all the same and may you find an answer to your questions too.

I almost always mention your name when I tell someone about the fish oil capsules. Thanks to you, I now take 1 capsule omega3 EPA-DHA 300mg every day and I have almost NO pvc's.  It's really made such a difference in my life.  I think a lot of people might take too much at a time, I know some have taken 1200mg or more a day and it can I guess make things worse.  I know the 300mg capsule is just right for me. Thanks again, Skippi      Keep spreading the word!

Oh, that's lovely, I'm glad you had success with the fish oil and that I somehow played a role in it ;) This site is so amazing, and I'm really grateful to have found it. Something to remember too is that the fish oil needs time to work, it took several weeks for me until it kicked in. I don't take anything else except the fish oil tablets and magnesium, and the occasional vitamin B6, that's much better than having to take beta blockers for the rest of my life (which incidentally didn't really work with the pvc's anyway, just slowed down my heart beat and made me tired!).

I couldn't agree with you more, Skippi!  I stopped my rhythmol in Sept, not because of the fish oil, but because it was causing me to have a pro-arrythmic effect, or rebound effect.  Anyway, I did much better off the med, much, much fewer episodes of a-fib and shorter for sure, I've had maybe 3 or 4 short episodes since Sept., which is certainly manageable.  Then, after going on the fish oil capsules, my pvc's stopped as well and I then went off my beta blocker (topralxl) with absolutely no adverse effects and I don't feel tired all the time.  Thanks again.    Linda

I'd love to take fish oil and used to, but  now that I have acid reflux, the heartburn from the oil (and the taste in my throat) is just too unpleasant. Too bad. I think it's very good for people.

yes, I too suffer from reflux, although I don't have the typical symptoms, they only found out that I had severe reflux during a barium meal (test for reflux). The only sign I ever noticed was a slightly sore throat in the morning. Hence my watching what I eat, drink, etc. It helps. And I take the enteric coated reflux-free fish oil. I never feel any fishy taste or have any problems with it (take it during a meal). But yes, if the fish oil doesn't agree with you, that's a pitty, since it sure helps me. My theory is (could be totally wrong of course ;): the oil somehow calms my stomach juices, or mixes with the acidic content, hence reduces my reflux, hence doesn't irritate my vagus nerve (which in my opinion is the culprit with many pvc's), hence much less pvc's! Because really, whenever I eat something acidic, I had pvc's galore!! Same applies to stress or tiredness, as the vagus nerve is connected from the stomach right up to the brain, via the heart (apologies for the simplicity here, hope any doctors forgive me). It's a theory... but 15 years of suffering, triggers, experiences, etc. convinced me of it somehow.
