My upcoming surgery with my new ICD

My upcoming surgery with my new ICD

About 6 weeks ago I had an ICD implanted for severe arrythmia.  I am due to have a spinal fusion soon due to my severe back injury.  Will having the ICD interfere with the upcoming spinal operation?  What can I expect the Doctors will do, or will I even be able to have the spinal fusion which has basically crippled me at this point.  I would rather have the surgery than to continue to live in this type of crippling pain.  Please advise if anyone can tell me what might happen.  Thanks

At the time of the surgery, they should turn the ICD shocking function off and have it turned back on right after the surgery.  This should not be a problem for the surgery.  They just need to call the device manufacturer to send a representative to turn it off.

Good luck with your surgery.
