So, anyone following me will see that I'm seeking answers. I was hospitalized on June 28th, after three days of tests and so forth, my cardiologist said I have NSVT, with no heart abnormality. He prescribed Amidioderone and Metropolol to stabilize my heart rhythm. I was back for a follow-up on July 17th, and all was fine. Cardiologist recommended staying on meds until October just to keep things stable.
Since the 17th, I've had a high level of anxiety, specifically at night. I only sleep 4-5 hours a night (and I'm a person who can usually sleep anywhere, anytime). My blood pressure dropped a little bit one day, but I have a tendency to get dehydrated, so upon drinking water it went back up to normal. I have no trouble falling asleep, but when I wake up in the middle of the night, I can't get back to sleep.
This morning (4:00 am, to be exact), I began---again---to have NSVT episodes. I had eight of these within two hours. Again, my cardiologist tells me there's nothing to worry about and that my heart is quite healthy-- but it's still alarming to repeatedly have this happen, especially after about a month of almost nothing.
Cardiologist told me to use this time (now to October) to try to identify triggers. Anxiety---yes. The more my husband tells me to calm down and relax, the more I cannot. I am going on a long road trip (1400 miles one way) with my teenage children, and my husband feels like this impending trip and related anxiety is triggering these episodes. But, that doesn't really explain the episodes in the last week of June.
And so, I'm wondering if anyone knows if peri-menopause or hormonal fluctuations could trigger NSVT. Both my GP and my Cardiologist are men---and while I know that they "know," I understand that this isn't their first thought. I've read a few posts and opinions about the way hormones affect the heart, but I haven't found anything solid.
