Need reassurance!

by dbranden, Nov 13, 2008 07:03AM
My palpitations have been awful lately, to the point where I don't sleep peacefully. This morning I feel terrible and have had bigeminy and trigeminy every time I stand up--about 4 episodes this morning already. I have a Holter on for 48 hours, so it should be catching all of this, but I am still scared. I have never had this much bigeminy in one day, and the day has just begun. Someone please reassure me! My mind is thinking the worst!

To: Hi
I do get episodes of bigeminy and will last up to a month and then go away. Our hearts are stronger than we think. If you have already been checked out and given the all clear that they are benign then please try not to worry sweetie. Things will get better!!

Just keep calling in your events and if you feel you need to see your doctor or go to the er then do it its better to be reassured then to worry.

I'm praying for you,

Tara :)

Hi there...  I know it is hard when you hve bigeminy and trigeminy.  It's like, how can our hearts do this!  But thankfully your holter is catching it all and in the end, I bet anything your cardioligist will say they are ALL BENIGN!  I know that does not make feeling them any better, but at least we know they will not harm us.

The hardest part is dealing with them, ignoring them, etc..  Because...  Well...  We FEEL them and it does stink!

I am wearing a 24 hr holter and wouldn't you know my pvc's are not nearly as frequent.  They are every 10th beat, or every 5th beat, or every 20th beat.  arg!  Here I was telling my Cardio yesterday I must be getting 35,000 a day, seriously!  Because I too was getting lots of bigeminy, trigeminy, and every 3rd or 4th beat ALLL DAY LONG and now they are a little less...  I guess that's the way it is sometimes.

As soon as I take off the holter they will be right back up there, you watch!  LOL...

I am sorry you are feeling scared though.  I know its so hard some days.  Please try not to think the worst.  That will cause your adrenaline to increase and cause more of these pvc's.  Just keep telling yourself, "I have been checked out and my Dr. told me these are benign, and everyone's else's Dr's say the same thing."  That is a lot of opinions from dr's from all over the world.  Surely they can't ALL be wrong in saying they are benign.

I asked my Cardio yesterday, why no research is being done on these when so many people suffer.  She said, "Well, because they are benign and research is for hard to cure diseases that people die from."  Makes sense, but darn they are annoying!

I asked her if I get pvc's in the 30,000's are they still benign, and she said, "yes they are still benign."

She offered me Toprol XL 25 mg once a day, but of course my mind wanders too and I am scared to take it.

She also told me again that she use to get pvc's, and in bigeminy at times and she admitted she got frightened at times.  She took Toprol xl and said it really helped her.  And then one day she said it was like someone turned a light switch off as her pvc's were GONE!

I SO HOPE that happens for all of us on here.....

Anyway, I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you.  I could feel the fear in your post and just wanted to offer you some words of comfort....

Hang in there!!

Thank you both for the replies. Things seem to be calming down a bit, so I am feeling a bit better. I know it is wrong thinking, but when I get a sudden increase in symptoms, I automatically assume that something is wrong. Even though benign is benign! The doctor knows my bigeminy is benign, he is just trying to evaluate what my new "fluttery" symptoms are. My heart feels so chaotic when it is switching from bigeminy to trigeminy to the fluttery feeling, but I've never felt faint or lightheaded, so I guess my heart is still pumping the blood that I need. I sure wish I could have that "light switch turned off" feeling that your cardiologist had. I don't mind so much that I'm having all these palpitations, I just wish I couldn't feel them! Thank you both for making me feel better and less fearful.
