New sensation- anybody relate to this one?

New sensation- anybody relate to this one?

Today I had an upsetting event take place, and as the day progressed, I felt the "signs" of my heart starting to get upset.  I'm successfully treating the AFib and SVT with Sotalol (along with Prozac and Klonipin (klonopin),as needed, for the anxiety).  But, this afternoon I experienced some heart palps that were alltogether new to me.  Description:  a sudden and distinct pounding of my heart in the area of the base of the sternum/upper stomach.  It appeared to be in rhythm, but was out of sync with the upper part of my heart beat, if that makes any sense.  Definately different from AFib, SVT, PAC/PVC.  It only lasted maybe 15 seconds, but unfortunately, got my mental attention!  Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?  Thanks so much!

Any chance it was NSVT?  a "burst" of PVCs/PACs?  Those are real attention getters!

Hope you're feeling better.

Thank you for your response, and yes, I'm better today.  I'm not sure what NSVT feels like, but it definately was nothing similar to my  AFib episodes (which my EP says is also SVT since it is a rapidly conducting- 245 bpm).  Also, it was unlike any PVC/PACs I've ever experienced, although I've been thinking today that it could have been a run of PVCs.  In your experience, have you ever noticed the PVCs presenting themselves in the lower part of the chest, almost a feeling of being on top of the stomach?  The sensation yesterday was dead center of my chest, very low, almost top of stomach. Blah, blah, blah...I get repetative sometimes!  But, the "sane" side of me knows that it was probably an adrenergenic reaction since I had been very, very upset that morning. :)

A run of 3 or more PVCs is considered NSVT (as long as it's not for more than 30 seconds).  It feels weird!  When I have a run, I think I feel it more right around my heart itself, but that's not to say what you're feeling couldn't be a run.  I'm wondering if it's a run of PACs since they may feel different than PVCs.  Next time it happens, I'll try and tune in to exactly where it feels weird.  Usually, I'm more interested in the heart beat itself, but I'll check it out.

It's not like a fast beat, just all jumbly.  For me, it feels like my heart is tumbling around trying to catch itself and then it kicks back into rhythm.  It will definitely get your attention.

OK, yeah an adrenergenic reaction makes sense too.  If it happens again, try not to worry, but try to zone in on everything you're feeling.  Did you happen to watch that youtube video that someone posted last week?  If so, was it like any of those feelings?  If you didn't see it, let me know and I'll try and find the link.  There is no sound, but if you watch the video clip it's cool b/c this doctor "acts out" what the different arrythmias feel like.  He uses his upper arms for the upper chambers (atria) and his legs for the lower chambers (ventricles).  It's really pretty cool.

Thank you, Connie, for your interest!  BTW, the video was a real hoot!  I think you're right about maybe I had a run of PVCs.  :)  amy

I think I can relate to what you are saying. Today while at work I was talking to my co-worker before our shift started and I had this pounding in my chest with a fumbling jittery kind of sensation. I had two of those in a row and just freaked out. I had a echocradiogram done about 6 months ago and had a structurly normal heart. I get these things alot during a month. I was just standing their with nothing I ate or drank to make it do that. Wish I knew what Was wrong with me.

Thanks, sonny372.  After all these years of dealing with this crazy heart stuff, I wish that I would not freak so easily myself!  If it's been a while since I've had any palps, it seems to catch me off guard and therefore is harder to cope.  Take care!  Amy

Hey there...Been a while since I have posted...I am actually doing better...I am learning to "accept" this is the way my heart is and it is not going to change...although I do get a little scared at times...like last night...we went to BINGO and they had some food there that really started the PVC's...then I got the sensation that u all are talking about...like your heart just quits and quivers for a few seconds...then it kicks back into rhythm...so this is just a bunch of PVC's...like NSVT? I have read that in a structurally normal heart...and it doesn't last more than 30 seconds...it is still benign...right?
