New weird rhythm

New weird rhythm

Ok, I have a question about new "weirdness" I've been experiencing. I used to get bigeminy or trigeminy with any exertion. Very recently I get a weird rhythm that feels like this: BEAT beatbeatbeat BEAT, or if I'm really exerting myself it feels like BEAT beatbeatbeatbeatbeatbeatbeat BEAT. I'm seeing my EP next week, so please no responses like "ask your doctor" because I will do that next week. I'm just curious if others have something like this, and what it is. Thanks in advance!

I am having the same kinds of beats. I have also had one instance where the "runs",  as I like to call them, have lasted for a few minutes. I  am currently seeing an EP who has     totally dismissed my symptoms because none occurred  while  I  was wearing a monitor. I am very frustrated and scared. Mine occur with dizziness and sob, Do yours? I hope you get some responses. I'd love to hear what others have to say. Much luck to you. I hope you get this resolved.

Sounds like some kind of arrhythmia, likely to be a run of PACs or PVCs. You don't specify what kind of bi- or trigeminy you have, so it's origin is hard to determine, As a general rule, PACs are much more likely to produce runs than PVCs. But if you have constant PVCs, VT (run of PVCs) must be considered. This is really uncommon in a healthy heart, though.

Most likely this is a short run of PACs, supraventricular tachycardia. I have this occationally, and it's really not much worse than a single PAC. But you should capture an event, if it's ventricular, treatment is often desired.

The EP will answer you and give you a diagnosis. So the answer is unfortunately "ask your doctor". It's not possible for anyone to diagnose to give a diagnose without testing you.

Thanks to all who replied. I have no SOB or dizziness, thank goodness. I just can tell something feels weird in my chest and if I take my pulse, I can feel the weird "runs" of these. I am hoping they are atrial, as NSVT kind of scares me. I just started Flecainide last week to try to reduce PVC's and PAC's (I was having over 1,000 daily combined). For several months I have felt what I call a double beat, like BEATbeat or BEATbeatbeat, but the long strings of these (up to 8 really fast beats after a normal beat) are new for me. Thanks again.

Please let us know what the doctor said by following up on this thread after your appointment.  I was getting those too and my doctor told me they were short runs of supraventricular tachycardia.  Feels like really light fast beats for a few seconds, then back to normal beats.  No other symptoms other than you can feel the feeling in your chest (like a butterfly flapping its wings), which drives your fingers to your pulse to see what it is.

Thank you, I will let you know. I am wondering too if they are some sort of atrial tach, since I got short bursts of that during the end of my pregnancy two years ago. It felt similar, but not exactly the same. And you are right when you describe light, fast beats. That is what I am feeling. It doesn't feel as hard or noticable as when I have PVC's or ventricular bigeminy. Thanks for your reply.

I was in the ER hooked up to monitoring and experienced beats like you described.  Mine were PACs.  Still have them some.

You must be the first person on this community that get "only" 1000 ectopic beats pr day treated with flecainide.

Not to scare you, I still think the runs are most likely to be atrial (and trust me, almost everyone are afraid of NSVT but almost no one have it), but a new arrhythmia that occur after starting taking antiarrhythmic drugs should ALWAYS be examined by a cardiologist.

Anyway, never change medications alone, but it's good that you're seeing the EP next week.

By the way, I have short PAC runs myself and they feel exactly like you describe.

I am taking Flecainide because after 10 years of increasing ectopics, I can no longer deal with them mentally. They are ruining my quality of life and causing depression. My EP realized this and felt comfortable with me taking the drug.
