Nobody can figure this out...

Once in a while, even when I'm not active, all of a sudden my heart will race faster than after a long run, and it comes on very suddenly. My chest starts to hurt and I get very dizzy. Sometimes it'll only last for 20 seconds, while other times it can last for 5-10 minutes. Then, as suddenly as it came on it goes away, from a racing heart beat to very slow within a split second, and my chest will be very soar. I don't experience it often, but I really want to know if it's some sort of heart defect or if it's nothing to worry about. Whenever I tell other people they blame it on anxiety or that I've been too active, but it'll happen when I'm just calmly sitting on the couch watching tv. I don't want to sound like a hypochondriac, but I just want to make sure it isn't anything to worry about. Any help?

Have you seen a doctor about the episodes?  An event monitor might be a great way to figure out just what's going on when you have the fast rate.

Thanks for the replies! I'm fairly certain that it's the svt thing, completely explains what I have. Hopefully it's harmless...

Thanks again!

it sounds like it could be svt hun.svt starts and stops often for no apparent reason and it can be very unsettling and scary.wearing a holter monitor will pick up this when you are having an attack, problem with svt is if you are not symptomatic no test will pick it up,it can be very frustrating,i went years before i was believed.

Yup, I'd say bouts of SVT or a-fib.  You need a cardiologist to work you up (no pun intended), and both are treatable, for the most part.  Good luck.

You probably have some type of fibrillations.. Have you gone to a doctor? You should really look into getting a cardiologist and having them run some tests.. Best of luck to you.
