Non stop PVC'S Solution anyone?

My husband who is 38 suffers from this as well. Every other beat and sometimes up to 10,000 a day. It is beyond depressing, we have tried ablations, supplements, cutting out alcohol, coffee etc, acupuncture, an ablation and NOTHING has worked. Its at a point where he says he cannot imagine living like this.

He had SVT and that went a way after an ablation in 2002. He used have some heart pvc's and then about a year and a half ago they started out after losing 40lbs working out. He is in the best shape of his life now and does triathlons (when he exercising he has no pvc's which is why he is obsessed with working out). It's the only relief he gets in his day. The wake up all night and are non stop.

He did a second ablation about a year ago for the pvc's and it was unsuccessful.

About 2 months ago I researched a different  electropsyiologist at Cornell. We met with him and he wants to do another ablation but he says there are no guarantees. Last time (unsuccessful attempt) cost us $6k we are still paying for due to crappy insurance.

Did yours come back? Do you have any new advice for this condition. I've read blog after blog, and talked to so many doctors and no one has a solution or at least a way of decreasing them.

He recently started taking L trytophan as a supplement and they went away (down to less than 50 a day) and yesterday they came back with vengeance. We were bot so hopeful that we found the solution but we were wrong.  I just feel so awful for him. This is not living and I just wish someone had an answer so he can live his life and be a happy. He is wonderful father and husband and deserves the gift of a healthy  heart.

Sorry to hear that you are going through this.  The top expert group near you would be U. Penn under Dr. Marchlinski and his group does the highest volume of PVC/VT ablations in the US.  There are a couple of other good choices for VT ablations near you.  Chinitz and Di Biase, both in NYC.  There is also Stevenson but he is in Boston.  If it was me, I would pick UPenn.  Best wishes for getting this resolved.

Thank you very much!!! I will look into the first doctor you mentioned.
One more thing worthy of note:  your husband is able to exercise to the point of superb fitness.

This is important:  His heart is probably extremely healthy and well able to compensate for the numerous PVCs.  Please go back and read this twice.

While 10,000 PVCs per day is not ideal, the fact is that he can function at an extremely high level.  The *awareness* of the sensation of PVCs is what is really disturbing, is it not?

Since ablations do not appear effective, yet your husband is in truth an athlete now, it could be worthwhile to consider cognitive-behavioral therapy to help lower his sensitivity to the physical sensations of the ectopic beats.

Pain clinics serve a similar function in that they teach patients how to deal with pain that is deeply unnerving but not indicative of a medical emergency.
