Norpace & Erective Dysfunction

My husband was diagnosed with IHSS  @ 23  while in for a minor procedure. He never had any symptoms. Last May he developed Atrial Fibrillation (age 43), It would not convert with IV med so  he was converted x2.  LA was severely enlarged & he had breathing difficulties. He was started on Norpace 150mg twice daily + Toprol 50mg once daily.I am please to say he has stayed in normal rythm  for 8 months. However his libido has gradually decreased to zero,including no morning erections. He refuses to discuss this with his cardiologist because he said his cardiologist told him he had 2 medication options & the other drug had major side effects.  Does this sound right ?
I know in the grand scheme of things his overall health is more important than getting my sexual needs met but I really miss the intimacy & am scared for the long term repercussions.Any help would be appreciated or if any one has had a similar experience that they would like to share. Thank You.

Beta Blocker medications (e.g., Toprol) are known to inhibit sexual capacity,  I think there are other Blockers medications that may serve the same purpose without the sexual impact.  Others here may help with details.

I don't consider Toprol, or any BB, to be a treatment for AFib.  Does he also have a high heart rate and/or blood pressure?  These symptoms are treated with BB.  I don't know what Norplace is, but I suspect it is the arrhythmia medication treating the AFib.

Norpace is toxic. I was it for 6 months and had severe side effects including libito, hair loss, dry mouth, and difficulty urinating. He should discuss alternatives such as flecanide or propaphenone with his Dr. They may give him some trouble, but not as much as Norpace.

Thank you for your responses. He has no bp or heart rate issues; my guess is the toprol is to keep hr down for the cardiomyopathy.  Yes, Norpace is an anti-arrythmia drug.
