I am just so grateful to read all the posts. They really make me feel better. I have had PVC's at rest for a few years and found relief with a magnesium supplement, prayer and relaxation. Now, they have returned but when I exert mysekf(used to be just at rest). It really scared me :( It helps to read these posts. Praying for all of you.
Sorry Sassie
I can only access this post from time to time because I stay pretty busy at work. I run my own business and that in itself helps me to keep my mind off the PVCs when I have them. I'm also rather new to this site (what a great site) and did not realize that you had posted so much.
I also have had PVCs for about 10 years. I had aortic valve replacement in 2001 and although I've had pvcs before and since they have not been awful. It just seems like they have been more of a nuisance the last several months. I recently had a cardio visit, I go annually for a check-up because of the valve, and had a ECHO and Thallium Stress Test, both came out great. I'm not restricted in any way. PVCs are benign.
The PVCs can be awful sometimes after I eat a normal or large meal. I seem to feel an irritation on the left side of my zyphoid (sp) process. This is also the area that I feel the PVCs the most. I also wonder about vagus nerve irritation. It just seems as though someone could figure this out.
I also have a strong faith and I do pray for everyone having such a difficult time with these PVCs everynight. The fact that God is the great physician and creator of us all gives me hope that a cure or miracle is on the way.
Please don't be afraid. I know it is easier said than done.
I have been diagnosed, and I am pretty familiar with them, I have had them since I was in my 20's, then, for almost 20 years, they left, now, they are back. I have had the echo, ekg, holtor monitor, all blood work, you name it, and all comes back fine. They just scare me, even though I am told they are nothing to worry about. I get them a lot after I eat or drink water also, but, I have been told that is due to my hiatal hernia pushing against the heart or reflex causing them, still, it bothers me.
Of course I have been diagnosed with PVC's. They had to stop my stress test 8 minutes in because when my heart rate got to 140 the PVC's starting coming on every couple of beats. At the time I was having pain with them and there were so many I wanted to drop because of the pain. This is what happens when I do cardio and I dont know how to fix it. Since taking the meds I dont have the pain anymore with them so that is why I am thinking about doing cardio again. I can handle an annoying pain. I have them all over my body but this pain was not good and would shoot up into my neck. Kind of hard to get into your workout when it feels like your neck is seizing up.
I guess my initial question should have been do you get PVC's with pain during cardio not just PVC's.
SassyLassie
Have you been diagnosed with PVCs by your doctor? How much do you already know about PVCs or are they new to you? Because this sounds like PVCs which are annoying. I have had PVCs every other beat on occasion. They can be very erratic in when they come and go. I especially get them after eating a full meal. Perhaps lucyluu can elaborate. They are normal cardiac activity in those who have a normal ekg and echo. We're just part of that group that feels them.
I, too, get PVC's when I exercise, even when walking. I just LOVE to walk and I really resent them. Darn things. I was taking a walk through a mall in Seattle last week, and the entire two hours, I could feel tiny "blips" and my tummy dropping, ohhhhh, I hate that feeling. I forced myself to walk, but, when finished, I was a basket case. Ruined my entire day. The next day, I tried walking on the water front, and I did better. I called my doctor long distance, and she told me that some of them could be due to allergies, you know, like formaldehyde and such, and being in the mall, stirred them up. I know if I smell certain spices they act up.
We sure do take walking and exercise for granted until we are afraid to do it. I keep forcing myself, but, I do not like it, oh well, some days are better than others.
Has anyone had the kind of PVC that feels like this: beat, beat, beat, ............beat, beat, beat. In other words, no really fast rate, just a dropped beat once in a while. Those are the kind that make my tummy drop and also are the most prevalent with me.
Thanks guys. Im going to try again and just start out slow. Hopefully this will build up my confidence. Its funny how you take for granted to be able to just go out and run.
Thank You Lucy luu for the herbal info. I can't take anything to thin the blood specifically since I'm already on warfarin because of an artificial heart valve. I think I'm like a lot of people posting to forums like this that someone will come across a miracle cure for the PVCs.
I to worry about PVCs occurring when I exercise. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't. But since these skips are benign I try to work through them. I must admit that I do feel much better in general when I exercise. I feel that we have to deal with all the anxiety in order to get over the fear.
If your doctor has given you the OK I would try to work through them. I do hope you get to feeling better.
hey there. well im only 13 and i get these pvcs too. and i love to play sports, and when i first started to get them its like i went in my own little shell and stayed away from the world, no fun, no sports. but then i finally thought to myself, ahhh whatever, let the pvcs come im not gonna stop. so now whenever i get them i just run, wherever for about 3 miles. i must admit i dont really have any while im excersising but when i start to cool down they go crazy, but then they stop after i cool down, and i can breathe better and everything. weird....maybe excersise is the answer? idk just a thought...so dont be afraid because im gonna go out for the soccer team this year. my first step to standing up to the pvcs. i hope you can take this first step with ease, also. good luck :)
In August I started on Persica & Achyranthes Combination. This combo moves the blood. I was having clotting issues. This herb is to move the blood. It was really funny because I went to the ER a few weeks later and I brought the herbs to make sure that they were not the reason why I was there. The RN without even looking at them snorted and said dont take that ****. This was the 3rd trip there for my heart with in 3 months but they still ran my blood work again. The doc came in and asked for the bottle and walked away so Im thinking o **** its the herbs making everything worse. He came back and said that my clotting levels were the lowest in 3 months and that he was not endorsing the herbs but he couldnt tell me not to take them either. I told him to tell his nurse that info:) They also brought the color back to my face for the first time in 3 years probably because the blood is moving.
I started a Licorice root last week on top of the other. The Chinese believe that it helps with heart trouble. The herb if you research it has been used all over Europe dating back to BC so that was comforting. It kind of felt like Fish Oil. I noticed a difference after a week. The root is so far doing the same thing a my Propranolol. When I get chest pain it takes the pain away but not the PVC. Herbs work over about a months time so Ill see what else this one does by the end of the month.
So I take Fish Oil, Licorice root and the other one. Of course I have spoken with my doctor about all of this before reducing my Propranolol dose. If you are thinking of taking these definately consult with someone who is an expert in these because if you take them wrong there is nothing in the American medical books on them so you cant get help from calling the American doc only the person who gave them to you. You really have to trust them.
lucyluu. What herbs were you taking.
Thanks guys. I was getting PVC's just walking and lifiting weights would put in a bad spot also. I am trying to work out again this week as I feel better due to some herbs I have been taking in conjunction with the Propranolol.
I have bigeminal PVC's (every other beat) for about 9 hours a day and I too have the exercise problem, my doc says that I should try to start out slowly. I have been using my Wii to play games to keep the weight off, nothing strenuous. I have been out of work on disability for almost 11 months and I have not gained any weight. I have a ICD so I don't worry as much about V-TACH, not that the shocks feel great or anything :-)
I adjust my workout so I can keep moving. I've never been able to run because my heart goes into PSVT. But I can walk and walk. That's what I do on the treadmill. Boring, I know. If my heart starts kicking out a lot of PVC/PAC's, I slow down a bit. Otherwise my heart will pop into tachy and I'd have to stop all together. Some days are easier than others but I just do what I can. I also enjoy weights. That burns some calories and keeps muscles toned and muscle mass burns more calories than my fatty parts.
This is my story, when I first got pvc's I was getting them like every 7 heartbeats and I said to myself I was going to start working out which I did, I started running 1 mile at first and I would feel a pvc ocationally, about 2 weeks later when I felt better in shape I started jogging 1.5 miles everyday but I would still feel the pvc's until I started taking the fish oil, it stopped the pvc's while i jog and I only feel them very faint about 2-5 a day only somedays.
I want to point this out also, before taking fish oil everytime I walked my heart would start jumping (pvc-ing) like when I went to see the cardiologist I parked 2 blocks away and when I got to the office I was in pvc attack (about10-15 a minute) for about 5 minutes. I don't feel pain with pvc's.
Hope it helps!
Sorry i cnt be of any help, but the same thing happens to me. I dontget any pain just the heart hiccups! they frighte the ife ot of me even thogh i kow the are not dangerous to me.I hope someone comes along to help you (an me!) out
