PVC Gasp for Air

by NightDreamy, Jun 22, 2008 01:42AM
Hi,
Can PVCs cause you to gasp for air? Once in a while it feels like I need to gasp for air during the PVC and then it stops after the thump. Is this normal? It isn't very long, maybe one second. I do suffer from anxiety, could that cause it? Please Help!

I also had one scary episode while laying in bed. I hadn't fallen asleep yet, and all of a sudden I needed to gasp for air. It lasted maybe 4-5 seconds. During the episode I was able to suck in a little air but it didn't help any and it stopped about a second or two later, then I was fine other than being a little startled. I was scared that it could be sinus pause, but I have had a normal Holter and haven't had an episode like this since. Can sinus pause make you gasp for air? Could it be anxiety?

After the episode there was no thump, just a beat only slightly stronger than normal.

Is there always a thump after a sinus pause?

Some people comment on the "thump" while others don't seem to notice.  I imagine it depends on the forcefulness of the beat and a number of other factors relative to body type, anxiety.....

I have not had to gasp for air despite having a lot of PVCs.  It's possible that the anxiety is a contributing factor.  It's always a good idea to touch base with your own physician anytime you experience a new or changing symptom.

Take care
