PVC/Heartbeats with lifting

Hello, I just thought i would see if any of you had some advice/input on dealing with PVC and abnormal beats during weight lifting.  Im a 25 m in relatively good shape and have had multiple ekg , stress monitor and an echo done on my heart in the past.  i have never been told i have anything alarming other than they always tell me i have pvc's.  For the most part when i run / excercise its not bad during it and pretty manageable after running a couple miles or so.  My problem is im trying to build some additional muscle and i can always feel "off rhythm" and PVCs when i lift.  Is this pretty common for others? Is there anything to do to combat/counter it because as always its a bit scary and frightening since it is pretty frequent when lifting.  Im not lifting anything excessively heavy.

Hi. Ventricular ectopic beats can take different forms.  I understand that some can be brought about by positional changes, or via valsalva.  The fact that you experience your PVC's during weight lifting could indicate something about their type, or it may not.

As long as you have been checked by a qualified physician, and found to be OK,  PVC's should not be anything to be alarmed or even worried about.  Some common triggers include over doing exercise, not enough exercise, stress, too much caffeine,  alcohol, or other stimulants.  I find mine are particularly bad if I run too many miles, which I think triggers my body to produce stress hormones, a definite trigger for these.

Hi -

I often get PVCs often when lifting, and few if any when running. I deal with PVCs daily, and I find running is one of the few escapes...I attribute increased frequency of PVCs during weight lifting to be adrenaline induced. As you are aware, adrenaline from working out, as well as from emotional triggers (stress, anger, excitement, nervousness etc) can exacerbate ectopic activity. When you are lifting weights, try to make sure you regulate your breathing as much as possible, as I find irregular breathing (holding my breath too long when exerting) may also be a trigger. You have had all the necessary tests, and been given a clean bill of health, so rest assured you are not alone, and have nothing to worry about!! Best, TM
