i was diagnosed with svt in 1996 and i went on to have another 3 successful pregnancies, however pregnancy can aggravate svt,i had 2 very prolonged attacks while pregnant.

Hey there.I have a friend who has eppisodes of svt and is pregnant with her second child. She hasnt had any real problems:) It can aggravate it like nicolette said but im sure there is medicine thats perfectly safe if that happens..or if you choose just to ride it out..up to you!(I prefer medicine). In my case,I have NSVT,and my cardio said if I were to get pregnant it would be considered high risk :(

Hi there! I'm ok actually heart's been behaving so far. Just been really worried recently and thinking loads of negative thoughts about how svt and pvcs can affect my baby. I've been on a low dose beta blocker even though i'm pregnant and now that i've only got 3 months to go i'm nervous about how the meds will affect my baby :(
Also i'm thinking what if i need a c section? How will my heart cope????

I'll bet you're gonna do great!  Is this your first baby?

How long have you been taking the BB?  I think I took Inderal through part of my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies, but I'm not positive.  I definitely had lots of PVCs, but 3 heallthy babies : )

Good luck!  Hope you're feeling well and enjoying the pregnancy!  Just think, a baby in the house for Christmas!  FUN!

i was told that even during the most prolonged attack there was no risk to the baby.svt is more unpleasant than dangerous.i was on bisoprolol with my last two pregnancies and there were no problems at all, babies never suffered any adverse effects from it.you will be fine hun.i had c sections too and my heart was fine.

Thanks.
Yes this is my first baby i'm so so excited but nervous too! I've been taking the bb bisoprolol for about 2 years including all the way through my pregnancy so far. Doctors have a mixed opinion but the majority agree that i should just remain on it. Hope you're right and everything goes well :)

I was the SVT (PAT), pvc and tachy queen of pregnancy.  My doctor told me I would be fine and so would my baby and we were.  He even performed a stress test on me in about my 6th month.  You will be fine too.  I noticed that my heart would really speed up if I ate too much in the later months so I ate very small meals all day.  It helped.  (still does for that matter).  Congrats on  your baby.  Everything will be fine!

My daughter is 19 weeks pregnant.  She has had no history of heart issues in her past.  She has been having increased heart rate.  Her resting heart is sometimes 115.  It is mostly in the afternoon and evening.

I am 19 weeks pregnant and have no history of heart issues.  I have begun to experience the increased heart rate at different times of the day especially afternoon and evening.  It is really annoying and makes me feel very tired.   My ob is sending me to see a cardiologist, but I was wondering if anybody out there has had this in pregnancy with no history of SVT before pregnancy?

am a 37 yr old past smoker and current caffeine user.  I am also 7 months pregnant.  I have been having a problem with skipped beats for 9 days now.  They happen often and last all day and all night.  I was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes.  The skipped beats started shortly after changing my diet for the diabetes and I quitting caffeine.  I went to the ER and was told my magnesium was low.  I was treated and released.  The palpitations have not stopped at all.  Sometimes they occur three times in a row.  I am having a difficult time sleeping, not only because I am disturbed by the skipped beats, but also because it is almost impossible for me to sleep on my left side due to an increase in palpitations.  I am also not able to lie on my stomach so I get very stiff and sore sleeping on my right side all night.  I understand that thinking and worrying about the skipped beats make it worse, but it is hard when you are not only worrying about yourself, but also the baby you are carrying.  I am desperate for relief!  I wore a holter monitor for 24 hrs and have not gotten the results yet.  I am worried sick!  I have thousands of skipped beats every day.  Any advice one could give me would be greatly appreciated.  What about applying ice or holding breath and nose and trying to breathe out forcefully.  I am afraid to try these methods.  I can't imagine going through this for another 10 weeks and also worrying about it while giving birth!  Thank you for your time.
