PVCs during exercise

I am an 18 male who has been suffering from PVCs for at least 4-5 years. I feel them like little thumps in my chest, and they commonly appear when I am in bed, and do not cause any direct breathing problems or dizziness apart from the fact that they make me afraid and anxious. The interval between them can vary, sometimes weeks and days can pass without one and on other occasions I get several a day. At times they also appear during exercise (I play soccer, run and do strength training 4-5 times weekly).  I sometimes also find that my heart rate takes a long time to return to normal after exercise (90-100 1 hour after finishing workout).  This scares me a lot. I have heard a lot about a disease called ARVD and I am afraid I might be suffering from this. Should I be afraid, or is this normal? None of my friends or teammates have ever complained of such a thing happening to them during matches or training so I don't think it's that normal... Haven't dared to ask though

ARVD can refer to 2 different types of issues.   Acquired Right Ventricular Dysfunction, or Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia.  Which one are you afraid you have?

In an otherwise healthy heart pvcs are not a danger.  It is pretty typical for people who are heavy exercisers to get them but not everyone notices them.  Try to make sure you do a warm up and cool down and see if it helps.  Other big triggers are stomach issues and stress and anxiety so the more you can relax about them the less of them you will have. The important thing now is to get checked by a doctor.  In general they are usually found to be benign but it is important to establish that first by getting an echo to verify the health of the heart.  See your doctor and tell them your symptoms and that you have an active lifestyle and want to be sure your heart is healthy enough for it and they should send you to a cardiologist to get checked out.  I suspect that all will come back normal but best to go and get that piece of mind than worry not knowing.  Take care and keep us posted on how you are.
