At 54, I recently got a pacemaker inserted for an AV block. It bothered me for several years. Wearing an event monitor, I had several 3 second pauses and one 4 second pause. The pacemaker has stopped that, but I still have PACs. I've been told not to worry about that. But I still tend to worry about them, thinking there will be a longer pause. There hasn't been, though. Thoughts?
There are many on this community who have pacemaker experience, I hope one or more will respond.
In my limited knowledge/understanding sets the HR, so there's no reason, beyond a failure of the pacemaker, to be concerned about a the heart stopping.
I have a pacemaker and still have pvc's and pac's but the pacemaker is set to only let so much time go between beats so if there is too long a pause it will pick up and beat for you. Yes, they are frustrating but not dangerous at all. I also had pauses for seconds before pm and I know how scary that can be but don't worry!
