Pain's effect on the heart rate

Pain's effect on the heart rate

I have read a fue time that pain might effect the heart but I have not found much about why or even statistic's etc.

Since being on Ivabradine I have noticed that when I'm in pain my heart rate seems elivated. the first week I took Ivabradine I had to reduce the dose at night as it was causing my to have bradicardia 50 60 beat's. Last week It was moderate but the week just gone and specially the last fue day's I had to take the full night dose because while I'm not tachy at night by not taking the night dose I was staying around 100 beats during the day at rest but still not exceeding 130 beats often. So far at night after the Ivabradine or not I have stayed around 60-70 beat's but the last 3 nights with the Ivabradine I have had a pulse of 75-90. while thats not a bad a pulse I have been having hip pain's that are got worse yesterday and even worse right now. It does make me curious about pain and it's posiable connection to my HR. I dont think pain is the only thing causing my tachy but I do wonder if it's contributing and how much.

This is second time I have had serious pain since starting Ivabradine and the first time after I took pain meds my Pulse went down again. I'm going to see if that what happens this time. I dont suspect the pain directly to be causing the drop in pulse if that were the case the same responce would have happened before the Ivabradine and pain meds did not impact my pulse at all before Ivabradine. I was still in a lot of pain even on pain meds when I had pain they just took the edge off the pain and made it easier to walk and NOT cry due to the pain. I must hide pain prety good because it took my partner to tell my Dr about my struggle with pain in hips and legs to get her to let me have stronger pain meds that reqire a prescription. over the counter pain meds were useless for the hip and leg pain. They worked for other aches and pains if I had any but not on the hip and leg pain. For the most part the leg pains have gotten better since being on Ivabradine I can only guess as to why, I suspect due to better blood flow(circulation). The hip pain is still giving me trouble I'm having an xray today incase it's arthritis my mum ans sister were diagnoised with arthritis young so it's a likly reason. I hope they find a reason for the pain. I recently went to physio about my clicking in my lower back he noticed I have less movement in my right hip than my left hip which he said could not be accounted for my less mussel strength. I rolled my right anckle real bad after gym 9mth ago and if took about 6mth to fully heal before I could put all my weight on it with out pain or weekness. I did not stop using the gym I did as much as I could and use the pool to help me put weight on it slowly over time. My anckle still feels a little stiff compared to my left one.

Anyway back to pain and HR does anyone know any fact's or info about it or even experiance.

thank you

Hello :)

A friend of mine had serious pain due to an injury in his back (he rated it 11 on a 1-10 scale at the emergency room, and he said he "just focused on surviving from one second to the next"). His heart rate was a little elevated (approx 100), but his blood pressure went from his normal 130/80 to 200/110.

I get somewhat elevated heart rate with pain, though not even close to the elevation my anxiety can cause (It can easily double my heart rate). Though I assume, if pain can cause increased blood pressure (through ANS activation) it probably can cause increased heart rate too, but it's most speculations.

By the way, how does IST affect blood pressure? Is it elevated during tachycardia events, or actually lowered?

My IST is staying under 130 beat's and even then most day's it stays around 100-110 when standing but I had some great days as well with not going over 90 when standing. Some bad day's where it's 100-110 sitting but that's mostly in my class thats proberly due to stress about being around people more than anything. I really want to compleat my cert 2 in commuintie service work but I feel traped a lot in the classroom. Classroom's bring back all my high school memory's of being teased and harrased.

I the pain in my hip and legs can get to the point where I would compare it to having a baby. I takes my breath away I have to remind my self to breath slow and deap. I get close to tears or do cry when the pain gets to it's worst. last night's pain in my hip would have peaked at 9 just before the pain started to kick in and at one point i felt like I was feeling high but the pain was still so intence I felt like I back in hospital having 4th child on the gas with did only made me not care so much about the labor pains I was having. the pain meds finally took the pain away it stayed away most of the day but now that it's getting close to bed time again it's starting to hurt more. the pain is worse at night for some reason it may be due to cold air I dont know. I had a xray today on my hip to see if arthritis is causing the pain and clicking in my hip. My mum was diagnoised with arthritis young and my sister was recently diagnoised with it in her anckle's. My sister is only 1y older than me. The pain almost feels like my hip is trying to dislocate speically when I'm walking with the pain. Trying to lift my leg off the ground feels like graviety has its hold on my leg and if I pull to hard or lift it to high it will dislocate the pain is intence. I had the same pain when I was pregnant with my 4th child and the pains in hip were more painfull than my labour pains. Thank goodness the pain is not that bad now but It can get close.

BP is prety stable unless I push my self really hard in short time I went for a walk to my closest shopping center, Thats a 30 min walk at a decent pace and it feels great to beable walk that far again. My BP gets a little unstable high's and low's after walking that much in a short time. I cant wait till I can walk to the center and back again with ease. Even better I would love to to walk to the other center which is a hour walk at decent pace. I use to walk for 2 hour non stop to a center a fue years back and back again after doing my shopping with a small amount of shopping. When I was 17 I use to have to walk to 2 hour to shops do my shopping and walk home with 2 back pack and several bag's in my hands. I could not afford to get on the bus(well that what my OCD told me at the time). It took me till I was 27 to get over my fear of paying for a bus ticket to get home with my shopping. It took me till recently with a friend to slightly get over my fear of using a taxi to get home with lots of shopping. I still have to convince my self that paying for a bus tickets wont take food out my kids mouth's on my bad OCD day's.

My pulse tends to be with in 10 points of the diastolic reading most of the if not matching diastolic perfectly I found that to be interesting.

take care.
