Is palpitation while preganant really the same as any of the tachycardia?
If yes does that mean everyone who is pregnant that has palpitations arehavinga type of tachy?

at times i get confused because te dr's say that palpitations is noraml during pregancy. Is the palpitation that i have the same as eveyone else that have it and what the dr;s are saying is very normal during pregnancy?
I ask because sometimes i think aout having one more baby then gettig my tubes tied.  I know i shoudl get advised from my Dr. but iwant some comments from my fellow peers and medical advisors online. :+)

Palpitations when pregnant can be caused by different things. Most commonly they are due to the heart beating faster and harder to pump all that extra blood around. This would be felt as a faster than normal heart beat or a pounding heartbeat.  I believe most people get this at some stage of pregnancy. They may also be caused by PVCs which can increase in pregnancy in people who are prone to them ( I started getting thousands a day when pregnant). These are felt as brief fluttering, flipflopping or skipping sensations.
Pregnancy has an arrhythmogenic effect sue to the increased workload of the heart, increased sympathetic nervous system tone and to hormones. Palpitations in pregnancy are very common. Good luck.
