Pause in heartbeat

Pause in heartbeat

Hi. I am a 34 year old female. I was diagnosed with PVC's a couple of years ago. I had an echo done and also a CT scan of my heart. The cardiologist told me my beats were benign although I did have an instance of bradychardia while wearing a holter for a couple of weeks. My heart rate fell under 40 bpm.  Recently, my heartbeats have changed. To give a larger picture, I also have high blood pressure and am being treated with Tenoretic 50 one pill a day. I have been on the Tenoretic for at least 4 years. My resting heart rate is very slow now. It is usually around 50-60 bpm. I also have to take bcp because I have a thickened uterine lining and PCOS. Anyway...my heart now has unusual beats that I didn't have before. For example, I will be sitting or relaxing and all of a sudden my heart will beat fast for a few beats and then start beating normally again. Also, when I breath in it feels like my heart pauses the entire time. I have sometimes jumped up out of the chair from fear that it is not going to start beating again. Are these normal for PVC's? I realise I should go see my cardiologist. It just isn't possible at the moment and I would like to know how concerned I should be. Am I just going to suddenly die?

Hi there. Sorry to hear you are having a hard time. I am a huge advocate of checking your meds before doing anything else. Sometimes medications can have side effects that will actually effect your heart rhythm. All the side effects are not listed on the form they give you and doctors generally dont know all the side effects either. Regardless, its always a great idea to see your cardiologist. As to the heart stopping--I just wrote about that today in my journal. Hang in there and check those meds and make and apt. :)
