Please Help if possible

My 77 year old mother 2 months ago had a heart attack, afterwards she is still in the hospital experiencing very low blood pressure, 76/54 (in that general range) she has no dizzyness, etc. she also has no appetitie, only has some fruit, and some ensure drink, and some soup, she has been on lasix, has had bad bouts daily with dry heaves, and geberal overall weakness, she also has affibrillation, heart rate of average,130, with some spikes. she has been in the ICU,and the regular CVMU and back many times this past 2 months, she was previously healthy, no family history of heart disease, but has anxiety, stress issues, which may have caused the attack. She now has swelling in the feet, and has been on and off lasix, has been taking lipitor, anidororome, they were going to try a cardioversion, but the blood pressure was too low, and the drs. say her heart can't go on with the high rate, she just had an angioplasty but no stent, when the heart attack occured, the drs. are trying everything, but nothing seems to work to stabilize her,, can anyone please help ??? thanks, ( her son )

Hope your mom is doing better.  Utah has some of the best arrhythmia experts in the USA.  Marrouch at UU and Day/Bunch/Weiss at Intermountain.  I don't know much about their other cardiologists that would be involved in acute HF.

Brook,  So sorry about what is happening with your mother.  She is having symptoms of heart failure and I am sure her doctors are trying everything to help her heart heal.  For better understanding of her problem, below is a link to a cardiology article about her condition and treatment.

What type of heart attack, do you know what exactly occurred?  Was it a blood clot, or flow problem, and to what part of the heart?   Does she have history of atrial fibrillation or is this something new?  What hospital is she in, are they a good heart tertiary facility?

Thank you, they are trying everything. I spend every night at the hospital w/ her, as it is a comfort for her, they also are giving her a mood elevator drug as she has been very depressed. She is so weak that she can't make it to the bathroom so she has help to the bedside commode, she has a foley cath in now and has it in on and off depending. I mentioned the cardio version that they had begun, but then decided against when they saw that she wasn't responding to the drug to raise her pressure. Now they have been concerned about her kidneys, and the output from them.  Tonight the white blood cell count was low, so she is wearing a mask to prevent infection. All in all, she has gone from having the angioplasty, to having an initial cardio version twice in the ICU right at first before she woke up, to bring a good sinus  rhythm ,  then going to a rehabilitation floor, where she couldn't get her breath supposedly because of fluid in the lungs/ heart area, then back to ICU, then to the CVMU floor, then having a scope in the neck artery to look at the heart? The next day she then had a Pulmonary embolism in her lung, then blood thinners, then to ICU again, then back to CVMU then back to rehabilitation, then back, to CVMU, to ICU, and now she is in CVMU again it has been quite depressing and confusing  mostly just not being able to find a normal Blood pressure, that is the main ( or at least it seems) to be issue. I apologize for the lengthy reply, but it has been so frustrating with so many Different drs having different takes on what to try, and conflicting methods of administration of procedures.  Thank you for listening, her son, Brook

All symptoms you describe, low bp, elevated heart rate and swelling of her feet are probably caused by the heart attack that your mother suffered.  They are an indication that at the moment her heart is not pumping very efficiently.
Things can still improve and the doctors might find a stable situation for your mother.
Don't give up hope. As long as the doctors try to find a solution there is a reasonable chance that you may enjoy your mother's company for a long time.
