Possuble left ventricular hyperophy?

Hi,just had an ecg this morning at the A&E as i was having a bad palpitation and a fast heartate of 126.
Had an ECG then which show sinus tachycardia,possible left ventricle hypertrophy.Is this an enlargment of the left ventricle,i had an echo done october last year where the cardio confirmed i do not have LVH.The reason they sent me for echo last year were the same reason when i had an ECG show possible LVH,so far i had normal stress test and normal 24 hr holter test,so as a result of this abnormal ecg i had this morning i am schedule to meet up my cardiologist again to discuss about the LVH thing,my question how could i have a LVH since 9 months ago,i had a normal echo ? i know ECG cant confirmed LVH but is lvh dangerous ?

Your story is 100% similar to mine.

I ALWAYS (I mean, every time, 10 out of 10 times) get dx from the machine with "possible LVH" when I do an EKG during sinus tachycardia.

If your echo rules out LVH, you don't have LVH. It takes decades with tachycardia or HBP to develop LVH (quote from my doctor interpreting the last EKG).

Once I'm out of the tachycardia, my EKG is "normal" again.

The reason for this mis-diagnosis, is increased electricity (harder "firing") in your ventricles during tachy. The adrenaline causes this effect.

Forget the LVH. Try to do an EKG while your heart rate is normal, if this make you relax :)

Hi,yes actually i was having tachycardia that time having ECG.Palpitation were quite bad from anxiety as i could see my stomach move as the heart beat.When i saw the ecg label above possible LVH i became more panic,palpitation get worse,so the doctor just decided to give me another blood test which i waited 2 hours and to be told all the potassium,urea, etc were in normal range.The doctor actually couldnt find my medical record at the ER,where all those 24 hour holter and echo,stress test were done so he scheduled me for an appointment tommorow morning to see them again where they will look into details of those echo reports or probably call my cardiologist.
Yea regarding ur story yeah,last year i was at the ER for the same reason,palpitations and dizziness,and had an anxiety attack while they were taking an ECG,which shows LVH too,so the next day i had an echo which they told me everything are fine,since then i never had possible LVH readings on ecg again till today..and i agreed with you too,i think its high anxiety and adrenaline level causing this readings,LVH but i have read somewhere on the internet where panic or anxiety can cause and ECG machine to indicate possible LVH,that is the reason i got freak out and more anxiety :S

You could possibly ask your doctor for a small dosage of non-selective beta blockers.

I started using this 3 weeks ago. Result:

- No more sinus tachycardia (except during exercise, but even then, my heart rate don't hit the sky, it increases slowly as it should during exertion)
- No more PACs during exercise.
- No more SVT.
- No more panic attacks.
- No more tachycardia upon standing up, walking, etc.

Only problem is that I get bradycardia during rest (my resting hr is now 50-60 and it can be as low as 40-45 before sleep, causing some PACs/PVCs at night). Anyway, I accept this tradeoff.

It doesn't work for everyone, but I believe it's a great medication for adrenaline induced palpitations! Ask your doctor!

Hi,thanks for the info,unfortunately i cant managed to see the cardio this morning as i just went to see my GP only,they still cant managed to find my old echo result so they just brushed me off saying its probably ok since that echo is done not long ago,last october 2009 i guess.Thinking of seeking a 2nd cardio opinion as the current doctors and cardio seems like to say every symptoms are anxiety related.
