Post Ablation flutters and erratic pulses

Post Ablation flutters and erratic pulses

Recent ablation for SVT.  4 days after surgery I had 12 hours of SVT.  Each episode lasted 2-3 seconds and only 120bpm.  For six weeks following surgery I have experienced frequent single sudden beat from below heart area, a feeling of blood racing through arteries, pulses in nape of neck and racing feeling deep inside chest (not SVT). It then feels as though the blood is being squeezed temporarily out of artery - and a final feeling of an airbubble and flutter rising in throat.  ECG shows no abnormalities.  This feeling is debilitating physically and emotionally and specialists can not tell me what this is.  Answers would be wonderful!!

I am sorry to hear that. I had an abaltion 6 weeks ago and feel great. i had flutters for awhile but no SVT. My episodes before ablation where not that bad, they would last a few minutes and come about once amonth.
I do not know if I would have had an baltion with episodes that only last a couple seconds. I would be concerned that it may never have been SVT just nerves or something.
You may need a second ablation if the SVT presists. My doc says that 5% of people need 2 abaltion to be cured.
Good luck

PS I would get that "air bubble" feeling alot before and after the abaltion. I am starting to wonder if it has nothing to do with SVT. I have started running everyday and have not had any weird feelings since I started.

hi
i had a ablation about a year ago now and before mine my hr would jump above 220 and for months after the ablation it calmed down but i have had a few hits like that recorded around 125 mark and is being classed as svt.i may need to go fro a second ablation ,i also get that feeling in the neck and i always put it down to the rush of blood from the tach and probably a little anxiety from the feeling of the palpatitions and change in bp .it can take a while for the heart to heal post ablation ,some can take up to 6 mths and sometimes other pathways get opened from the old circuit trying to run again.

have u asked for a event monitor to record these again --or maybe a low dose beta blocker may help

keep posted

Hi - thank you for your input.  I have had 2 holter monitor tests and despite having a long episode whilst wearing the monitor the doctor said everything was normal and that my episodes were caused by stress.  I have had no feedback from doctors on post-op healing and likely subsequent symptoms I am feeling as being normal.  I know that these feelings are interfering with me going to work, day-to-day activities, trips etc.  and are leaving me feeling exceptionally upset.

Not having the long drawn out SVT attacks is wonderful, but I am really unhappy with the feelings that have replaced these.  During the ablation procedure they were successful with ablation in one area. Unfortunately, the second area of concern was unable to triggered under surgery.  The surgeon has ablated this second area based on the ECG's and where the irregularities were found from tests. It feels as it there is just a tiny bit of an area that has been missed.

Thanks for your feedback.

i hate when they say stress--before my svt was finally diagnosed it was called stress by quite a few docs and one in the end finally gave me the monitor which was loaded with svt ,pvcs  i went through months of terrible meds and finally ablated ,,stress i dont think so ,stress will have certain effects on the body yes for sure but not everyday and not always on the heart like u have --it is hard to feel that way esp with day to day activities and going to work cause once that starts {tach} it's hard to focus on anything at least for me anyway
all u can do for now is keep in touch with your doc and demand answers if u feel unwell or things are not right ,the better u feel more normal in yourself and with your heart the better for u in the long run
there can be plenty of flip-flops after ablations it is just the heart healing and maybe in a few mths these will resolve -----sometimes a low dose beta blocker taken only when needed can help or everyday can help while healing takes place
i hope this resolves for u

Hi. I went through this exact same set of symptoms after ablation. Symptoms that occur when you are speaking with people and are enought to stop you cold. I was very upset and not sure what to make of it. What new problem was I facing? What were the implications for me long term?

I believe that if you choose not to ablate again, you will notice that your ability to cope with the new feelings will improve over time.  I agree with other who have posted experiences about their ablation:  getting back into the swing of an exercise program, if your doctor agrees, helps immensely with the recovery process.

kind regards, Bromley.

Correction. I went through a similar set of symptoms.  Your description however nicely captures the horror of experiencing it for the first several times.  You may want to be persistent with your questions to your doctors; I am not actually sure that these symptoms are equivalent to what I experienced.  You are right to want to understand what is going on.
