Pressure in chest

by emma141, Aug 21, 2009 01:59PM
Hi i'm 31 years old and have inappropriate sinus tachycardia and have episodes of SVT. Sometimes during a meal or after eating i experience an uncomfortable pressure feeling in my chest along with the feeling of palpitations. This can last anywhere from 10 mins to 1 hour. Has anyone else experienced this or know what could be causing it. Lying down eases it as does taking a small dose of beta blocker.

Try eating slowly (please, I am not accusing you of "inappropriate" eating manners) and chewing slowly...I mean more so than whatever you now do.  Also try to eat only bland foods, i.e., no French or Italian, and no carbonated beverages (partial list that comes to mind) and see it that reduces the problem.  If not, try an anti-acid and/or anti-gas medication rather than a BB to see if that helps.

I am surprised a BB helps.
