Problems with atenalol

I started on 100mg of atenalol last week after ablation therapy for tachycardia, that didn't work, and ended up in the ER.  Very hard time breathing, and pulse rate of 45.  Saw my heart Dr and he cut the atenalol back to 50mg a day.  I'm still feeling like I've got  200 lbs on my shoulders, and run out of steam after walking 50 ft..  What's up with this?

I could not tolerate Atenalol either. When I was on it I could not function. My EP saw this, and took me off it. She then put me on Sotalol, and I did much better.

Did your diagnosis have a more specific name? Just curious as my failed ablation was attemped due to WPW Syndrome that I never knew I had. but i'm on flecainide and Toprol. I hate them so much. Feels like I can't breathe at times, bad vision side effects, complte lethargy, and more severe neck pain than I had beofre the surgery. Such fatigue!

When did you have your ablation done? How do you know it did not work? I had an ablation done in January 08 for a-fib and a-flutter. My EP told me it can take up to 6 months for your heart to calm down. I did have 2 a-fib episodes a couple of weeks after my ablation, and a ton of PVC's and PAC's. Now everything is calm.

atenolol caused me to have vertigo, anxiety attacks, right ear hearing loss, and short term memory loss......all went away (except hearing loss) once I switched to metoprolol
