Yes they do test for drugs..But i quit while i was still a student...
anyway, back to the heart thing...I am concerned more and more about these hard thumps..i know for sure there isnt a pause before or after..sometimes it feels like a tickle aswell,...so confused as i can tell the diff between these and the pvc's...
Hi Andy:
I too get a feeling in my head when the PVC's or tachycardia is acting up. It's usually preceded by feeling faint and then - hard to describe - something like a "cooling" sensation in my head.
Well I certainly am glad to hear you gave up pot since you are a pilot.......:-( Don't they have random drug testing?
Hi Andy, There is 100% no need to worry about runs of PVCs as they are completely harmless given all the tests you've had. In fact they are a common and normal event in the healthy population. I get these runs too about once a week and they do feel unpleasant and startle me while they are happening but I no longer worry about them afterwards. They used to really scare me before I realised how common they are and that the heart is designed to always revert back to its normal rhythm.
I get the rush of blood to my head also, my heart is healthy but I have PVCs, I usually associate them with the PVCs coming close together, the consultant said the head feeling is common and goes with the condition!! Its not very nice though.I am taking beta blockers now as I couldnt cope with the head thing, they have reduced the PVCs and but taken them off altogether, I think they would reduce even more if I increased the dose but at the moment I am staying on the dose I am on now. Good Luck.
thanx deedle...occasionally i get a run like my hearts in tachy for a few seconds....it feels like the flutter trying to come back..but suddenly stops and goes bak to a normal rythem..i guess im worried that they are runs of pvc's..
There are other types of abberrant beats apart from PVCs and PACs. Usually what happens in these is the electricity just takes a slightly different pathway through the heart. I usually have a dozen or so of these on my holter and they are completely normal. These beats are not premature....on an ECG strip and they look like a PVC but evenly spaced between the prior beat and following beat. This may be what you are feeling.
The only way to find out what they are is to catch them on a holter. Whatever they are, I'm sure they are nothing to worry about as they are just single beats and not a sustained arrhythmia.
