SVT was diagnosed in the hospital I worked at.  Happened one day at work and they took an EKG.  PVC and PACS were diagnosed by holter monitor and Afib in the ER.

My SVT was diagnosed by the EMTs while in the ambulance on the way to the hospital emergency room.  I remember being very relieved to finally have a name to put to the problem after seeing numerous doctors over the years and being told there was nothing wrong.  I had a successful ablation (AVNRT) in 2011 and have experienced no further issues.  Making up for lost time in living a healthy and happy life.

Hoping your ablation went well and did the trick this time.

Had palpitations on and off but was always dismissed as they couldn't get it on a monitor.  Then the local GP did capture it on an ECG and said it was SVT.  Then got a four day episode and ended up in A&E plus four day hospital stay.  This time it was correctly diagnosed as paroxysmal AFib and have had one ablation, followed by another tomorrow ......

I've had arrhythmias for as long as I can remember. Never thought much of it. Was in my 20's, went in to see the doctor for some reason and they just happened to do an ECG. The nurse mentioned that I should relax, don't be nervous because my heart rate was so fast. I told her I felt fine. Apparently during that short strip my heart showed up as having PSVT.  The doctor mentioned it and that was all that was done at the time (early 70's).

My avnrt was diagnosed with a 30 day monitor.  I had a holter first but had an episode the day before not the day I was wearing it so a few years later I got the 30 day and an episode was caught.  I was, however, not told I also had ectopic beats which did show up on the holter so when I had a lot of ectopic activity after my ablation I freaked out a little not understanding it was a different issue than the svt.  I thought I made things worse by doing the ablation.  After returning to the doctor he captured the pvcs on an ekg and informed me what they were.  It took quite a while for them to settle down but they did thankfully for me.   That said, I do wish I had been informed about them prior to my ablation so I could have been better prepared for them.

My cardio dr told me I went to different drs until I went to a cardio dr who put me on a monitor for 30 days says mine are most PAC, started getting them in my early 20 now 54 , they are now coming and staying 8-10 hours at a time, ended up in Er last week because they were so bad, was scared it was a fib but they told me it was still PAC and benigh so feel blessed praying they never turn in to afib

In the ER.  I had pac's and pvc's for years and was pretty much resigned to them and knew them to be benign.  I thought it was the same thing, but they didn't stop.  So I drove myself to the ER and told them what I thought I had and they said, no, this is different you have afib.  This was a time of great stress and I didn't have another episode for several years.  However, now, 10 years out I am have persistent afib.

My neighbor is a Life Flight nurse... I told him what was going on with me, he said, "Sounds like you have SVT."

The true diagnosis: ER 12 lead EKG.
