I've had at least 10 echocardiograms in my past.  I always get a copy of the test results and often see information that worries me.  My doctor has always minimized my concerns.. that is he has already told what I need to know, e.g,, a leaky mitral valve and an enlarged left atrium.  These eventually did lead to problems requiring surgery - but that's why I had so many echos.. to keep track of changes and doing something when the problems couldn't be ignored any longer.  I underwent open heart surgery.... the earlier goal was to delay surgery as long as possible because of the risks of surgery.
