Recently passed out and was referred to an Electrophysiologist

I was vaccuming recently and passed out.  I called my doctor and went in the next day.  They did an EKG which was normal but said my heart rate was a little fast at 101.  He sent me that same day to a cardiologist, which sent me over to the hospital for a CT scan of my head and a 24hr Holtor Monitor.  I returned the holtor the next day and was called by the office to immediately schedule a bubble Echocardiogram.  I was then called by the office the day after that to tell me they saw a hole in my heart that was allowing blood to go back and forth and I need a TEE to determine whether the hole was in the top or bottom part of my heart.  Went in for that test and there was no hole.  Was sent a week later to a Cardioelectro physiologist for an evaluation.  I saw him and he asked about my family history, which is this: Maternal Grandfather died suddenly at 50 he had no prior heart history.  My mother died at 43 of vegitated heart valve replacement surgery complications and my mother's sister just recently passed at 54 of going into ventricular fibrillation that caused brain death.  He did an EKG which he said showed Leads 1 and 2 changes and because of my family history I need a Procainimide Challege Test for Brugada Syndrome and a Tilt Table Test.  Both of those were just done and it was found that I do not need a ICD at this time.  All of this has happened so fast I haven't had time to ask questions like What does changes in Lead 1 and 2 on an EKG mean? Do I need to get a second opinion because of all of these things?

Hey iread your post...like i always try to tell everyone when a doc spots anything especially a heart doc news comes incredibly fast.  I am so sorry about your family history that is alot of loss to take with people so young and going so fast.  The good news is this to me....it sounds like you do have a great heart doc that is on it.  He/she did all of the appropriate tests and you came out with a clean bill of health.  I think that you could basically go for a 2nd opinion but chances are very strong they are going to come up with the same thing due to the test results.  The only reason i could see now that you would want to have that done is for peace of mind for yourself as a little added assurance that you are fine.  I think it is very natural under your circumstances to be concerned and if you can't find a safe place in your mind then maybe a second opinion will give you the reassurance that you need to move on with your life.  You heart rate was well within the normal limits and they did every kind of test that they could to rule out underlying issues.  I think possibly is the worry you have with your family hx. and it does not mean that history will repeat itself here and thus far sounds like it won't,  Remember we are here for you if you need to get your worries out.....take care and have a great week.
